In loving memory of our mother Jean V. Nielsen
Born January 11, 1937 to William E.Smith, and Loui V. Miner in Provo, Utah As a young woman , she enjoyed the arts and dancing. At age 21 she married , Ronald D. Peck on June 18,1958. During their 18 years of marriage they raised four kids together, and traveled to Germany Where Ron was serving the Army based military. Jean became an avid golfer while in Germany and won many trophies with her golfing friends. They moved back to Utah in 1972, she wanted to be close to her parents again.
It was then she discovered a passion for cooking. She was prized on her ability to make food not only taste good but look good as well. She was posted in the local green sheet for making gingerbread sleighs for x-mas one year, and continued supplying food for the catering dept. at the local Hilton Hotel in Sal tLake City. She also enjoyed reading and doing crosswords in her spare time as a housewife.
She divorced in 1976 and remarried the man she believed to be the love of her life. Alton J. Nielsen was wed to her in 1978, where she supported his business of sales from home. When he became ill, she spent all of her time taking care of him at home until his passing in 1989. She moved to Hawaii to spend a couple years with her oldest son and new grand kids.
Upon her return to Utah, she worked for Chevron, managing one of their stations, until getting ill herself from experiencing a stroke while getting dinner one night. It was in 2007 when she was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease and the doctors took her drivers license away. She knew she was struggling with her memory loss, and feeling a bit lost in the world thereafter. Her Alzheimers claimed her life after 6 years of struggling with it.
Survived by her brother Willis C. Miller, and sister, Joyce T. Bullock, her four children, Michael P.Peck, Lori J. Bilanzich, Toni D. Colon, and Derek L. Peck, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, a sister Barbara Miller, her son in law Joseph Dean Bilanzich, and her Husband, Alton Jay Nielsen.
The family would like to thank Willow Wood Care Center for their care and patience with Jean during her last year of life, words cannot express our gratitude for your kindness and understanding.
The Family will hold a one hour viewing on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Premier Funeral Services from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at ,7043 Commerce Park Dr. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Estates 6500 South Redwood Road
