I met Gerald when we moved in kiddy-corner to him in 2001 with the Air Force. Gerald and Sue were very welcoming and kept an eye on my place when I was out of town, which was frequent, even clearing the snow when needed. It was hard to hear of Sue's health problems and eventual death. Gerald and I had many good conversations as he mourned her passing. Gerald and I also talked a lot about the neighborhood and local politics. We met at Layton City Council meetings more than once. Gerald was a great person caring for family and neighbors equally. My family moved 3 years ago, so I found out by chance from another neighbor when I was droiiff Christmas wishes. I'm so sorry for the families' loss, but I hope the pain is softened in knowing what a terrific person their father and grandfather truly was

So many memories of my dear friend Gerald...some only a few will understand. He will though and if you do - you will smile. The "comander" - my 3rd favorite boss - the guy who never ran low on ice - that wasn't mom deodorant - Mr. "patient" at the airport & slow play golfers just to mention a few. Gerald, my co-worker, my mentor, my golf buddy, my lunch companion, the guy I admired & tried to be more like - my hero but most of all, my friend. Gerald, Rick Bateman and I were golfing in a HAFB course tourney on a lovely summer day and I was warming up doing some yoga stretches. Gerald says “ what are you doing”? I said I was warming up. He responds very politely “go do that somewhere else”! I guess he didn’t think downward dog was appropriate while in public! I still think and laugh about it! Gerald has the most lovely voice also. I can hear him laughing now.

I have deeply devastated and heartbroken for Gerald’s entire family. It has been a hard six months since Ray passed and now Gerald. I have known him for over 50 years. Amie, Shawn and family you are in my prayers. May he rest in peace in heaven with your mom.
To Fae, his sister I care and I know this is difficult. To my best friend forever, Kay I know what a wonderful BIG brother he has been to you. Prayers for you and Fae as well as your family.

To the entire Gilbert, Arnold. Durrant and Wells family I offer my sincere condolences. I am sad and heartbroken. I know he was a great father, brother, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa and friend. I have know Gerald for over 50 years. He was a Big Brother to my BFF, Kay. The last time I saw him was in August and Kay and Joe’s 50th anniversary party. I am saddened by his passing. I know he is happy to be reunited with Sue. Such a short time since Ray left us.
Live your life to the fullest each day. Tell those close to you how much you love them. Sadly Gerald’s unexpected passing reminds us tomorrow is not promised. I love you all and will be with you in thought and prayer as you celebrate a wonder man.
