She dedicated herself in service to others, participated in the Lords work & always had the best one liners that would make me chuckle days after. Dee was a force of nature. Kind, firm, sweet and loving. We spent many many hours talking over the years, whether it was a visit before sacrament meeting, on the phone or out in the World, Dee was always there for me. She gave liberally of her wisdom and advice throughout my life. She wasn’t shy about putting me in my place if I was heading in the wrong direction. I had the pleasure of visiting with her in Utah. We spoke for a few hours, catching up and visiting. I am truly thankful for her, and will miss her dearly. Thank you for always being there for me. -Monty

Though I’m sure I met her long before, my first official interaction with sweet Dee was at an activity days event when I was about 10. All the girls were paired up with a lady in the ward who would teach them how to crochet. While I was a little worried to try something new with someone I hardly knew, Dee was warm and kind. She took me right under her wing! She taught in a way that made so much sense and most importantly, she was patient with me. I’m so grateful for that activity because it sparked a wonderful friendship with a truly wonderful lady. From then on, she would come over to my house with cookies and new projects for me to learn. Head scarfs, flowers, you name it! To this day I still think of Dee when I crochet. Her sharp mind, humor, and kindness.

I remember when we first moved into the ward. Dee was all aglow with love for everyone she met. She taught my daughters primary class and kalea loved running to get her as Dee was always waiting at the door of the class to greet each child...... and hug each one and tell them how special they were and how much she loved them. I always knew my daughter was in good hands and Dee made you feel like you were home each Sunday. We love you Dee. You are sorely missed.

Dee was always a presence. I got to know her as we met each month in our Break the Fast group and enjoyed her lively and often opinionated input to our round the table conversations. Her amazing life experiences and aged wisdom contributed much. Dee’s stately appearance, smart dress, and glistening silver hair caught my attention. She is missed.

I met Dee at Sprouts in 2014. She asked me for my mac & cheese recipe and we spent 90 minutes talking in the store before we had to go home. She called me that night for 2 more hours of conversation. I was baptized in 2017 aftergoing to nearly every single event and occasion in the Santee stake with Dee she was a dear friend. Thank you for sharing Dee with me. Dee was the very first person to introduce herself and speak with us on our first Sunday in the Santee First Ward many years ago. She was friendly and outgoing like that and made us feel welcomed there. I’ve never forgotten that. Ken and Elly Milne
