I first met Melissa during her time at Yale. I was immediately impressed by her enthusiasm and intellect. We reconnected after she started at Brown and got to be very close during her time at Harvard. Melissa was an amazing person who left an impression on everyone she met. She was well-known and respected by the religion faculty at Harvard, Yale, Brown, and Princeton. I am very glad to have known her and devastated at the news of her passing. My prayers and condolences to her family and loved ones.

Melissa was kind, thoughtful, engaging, and brilliant teacher. I was part of the class she taught at Harvard about Mormonism. The way she interacted with students and encouraged a variety of opinions really stuck with me. It was one of my favorite and most memorable courses. Melissa had charisma and an obvious passion for the subject.
