I was blessed to meet Val Wynn several times while he lived with my sisters family. Rachel and I referred to Val as “The World’s Cutest Grandpa!” I’m so happy to know he is finally with his beloved Ginny Girl. Sending love to the whole family for their loss. Brother Wynn was the ward teacher that challenged my father in 1951. My dad had been skipping Church for a while. After his usual visit to our home, Brother Wynn started toward the front door. But he stopped, turned around to face my dad, and asked, "Dick, what has the Lord done to offend you?" My dad was stunned and said, "Nothing, Val." And Val replied, "I didn't think so. He needs you." That moment led to our family going to Church, to my mother taking the missionary lessons, to our family traveling to the Mesa, AZ temple to be sealed for eternity. I will forever be grateful for the boldness and strong testimony of Brother Wynn.
Gary I never met your father but he must of been a very special man to have raised a son who is such a good man. Richard and I have you in our prayers. May you find comfort in these memories.
Val and I were always close. We lived in Ashton , he went to school in Rexburg, 30 min away, he would come home on weekends, when he left to go back to school, I would cry, cause I missed him so so much.
Every year I would write him a letter the first part of May, reminding him of my birthday the end of May. We have always laughed about this.
I went to live with them, after I graduated from high school, for the summer. Val got me a job at Vandenberg AFB. We would drive to work together.
Val would come help my dad farm every summer. In Nyssa, Or. He loved my parents so much, and showed it—so much respect. He would always bring lots of avacodos, and oranges from Ca.
Val was always positive. He radiated good energy. So much personality. A joker. I loved him so. Till we meet again my dear brother😘
I remember Val as a kind bishop during my high school years. Since Barbara and I were in the same grade we spent time at their home in the Oak Hill area. Those were happy days.
