Curtis Max East

Curtis Max East beloved Father, Grandfather, Friend and adored member of the Ogden community sadly left our world on Sunday, November 17, 2024 surrounded by his family and friends. Curtis was born to Max Burrow East and Ivy Jean Atkinson on October 7, 1964. Curtis grew up and was raised in Ogden, Utah where he attended Ben Lomond High school. After he graduated in 1983, his love for Ben Lomond High school continued and he decided to stay and work there as the school’s custodian, for about 10 years until he moved on to continue his custodial work at Hill Air Force base commissary. Throughout his life Curtis desired to learn and experience as many things as he could. Some of his most favorites were volunteering to help at the rodeo, cutting down Christmas trees and working at the many Mini Mart locations around Ogden. Curtis loved working at the Mini Mart where he worked there for close to 11 years. Curtis held many job duties at the Mini Mart that he was very proud of. He loved all of the local people he got to meet and all the amazing people he got to work with. You have all held a very special place in his heart and made him extremely happy during his time there and we as his family would love to publicly thank you for that. Curtis married Susan Cervantes in 1985 where they had 2 children together Corina and Benny Cervantes and later divorced. Curtis started dating Katherine Foulger who had a son Frederick from a previous relationship, Curtis fell in love with them both and quickly married in 1990 and later adopted Frederick as his own. Him and Katherine went on to have Nicole, Steven, Ashlie and Bryce. They later divorced but remained good friends sharing the love of their kids together. Curtis was larger than life and when he walked in the room you knew he was there. He was so full of life and if he knew you, he loved you, and if you knew him you couldn’t help but love him more. He always saw the positive in everything. He loved to make everyone laugh and loved to leave you with a smile on your face. He was so unbelievably good at making people laugh from his amazing singing voice to his awesome dance moves, you would always walk away with a full heart and a smile on your face. Curtis had the best jokes, though some of them might not be the funniest it was his laugh at the end of his joke that made your day. Curtis was a cowboy at heart, in the summer you could find him hanging out at the rodeo and blasting his country music singing at the top of his lungs, he loved to dance and his dance moves were one of a kind. Curtis was an avid sports watcher and watched it all, he loved to bet you a coke on the outcome of any game and if you won, he would be sure to pay up. He had the biggest heart of anyone we knew and if you needed help you could bet that Curtis would be the first one to show up. He had an undeniable love for those around him whether you knew him for a minute, a day or an hour he had your back and you could always count on him. Curtis is survived by his children, Daughter Corina Cervantes, Son Benny (Kay) Cervantes, Son Frederick East, Daughter Nicole (Gaile) Supp, Son Steven East, Son Bryce East, Daughter Ashlie East; and 3 Grandchildren that he adored Opal, Bailey and Logan and one on the way. Curtis was proceeded in death by his parents Max East and Ivy Atkinson, brother Kevin East, and grandparents. A Celebration of Curtis’s life will be held at the Hope Center in Roy, UT 5051 S. 1900 W. on Tuesday November 26th at 5:00 PM. Flowers and or donations for funeral costs are appreciated through Venmo @Nicole-East-4. We would like to say a special thank you to all of the ICU nurses at Ogden Regional and those that loved Curtis as much as we do. Thank you for the phone calls, texts, donations and flowers sent to us during this difficult time, your support has been such a blessing to us and the love we have felt during this time has been unforgettable. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. Curtis will be missed more than words could ever explain and we are so extremely grateful and feel so blessed that we got to have his beautiful presence surrounding our lives as long as we did. We ask that you keep him close to your heart and after his celebration of life that you live life as large as Curtis did, always smiling, always singing and always dancing.
