Cynthia Brianne Firkins

We lost our sweet Brianne on March 18, 2023, to natural causes. Cynthia “Brianne” Firkins was born August 14, 1998, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the daughter of William and Erin Firkins. Brianne spent her early years in California, eventually moving to West Valley City, Utah, in 2005. She was a graduate of Cyprus High School in May 2016. Brianne received a horrific medical diagnosis at aged three. We were told she would not see her fifth Christmas. But Brianne had her own plans, facing down Death and living to make lies out of all the statistics. When a Utah Jazz cheerleader suggested she would be five on her next birthday, Brianne held up her crossed fingers and said, "I hope." Her early experiences gave her a disconcerting wise, old perspective behind the eyes of a young girl. Brianne was an excellent chef, following in the path of her mother, grandfather, and great-grandmother. She loved games (both on screen and on the board), and dogs, and sushi, and anything pink. Most of all, she loved her family. She understood very well what many of us never grasp--that time spent on the front porch, scratching the dog's ears, and watching a beautiful day fade to night, surrounded by the family who loves you, is the sweetest thing of all. Brianne is survived by her father and mother, by her brothers, Christopher and Zachary, her sister-in-law Kylie, her beloved nephews, Carlyle and Kendrick, her grandfather, Loyd Wilson and grandmother, Mary Corporon, by her Aunt Susan and Uncle Trino, her Uncle Frank and Aunt Shayne, her Uncle Dan, and by many cousins. Preceded in death by her grandmothers, Cyndi Wilson and Jan Firkins, and her grandfathers, Fred Hightower and Bill Firkins Sr. She also leaves behind many loving friends, of all ages, who will miss her greatly. Brianne has once again made her own plans, leaving this earth far too soon, but peacefully and on her own terms, surrounded by her loving family. The family wishes to thank the emergency responders in West Valley City and all the staff at Pioneer Valley Hospital and Intermountain Regional Medical Center for their compassion and their efforts in Brianne's behalf. There will be a private celebration of life to be announced later by the family.
