Dee Lewis Galli

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dee Lewis Galli, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and passionate pilot, who left this world peacefully. Born on November 30, 1937, to John Lester Galli and Ella Mae Lewis, Dee lived a life defined by his love for aviation and his unwavering commitment to family. Dee is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Kay Neeley; his cherished daughters, Kathi Brown and Michele Flugga (Scott); and his sons, Matt and Dan Galli (Angela). He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Jordan, Cassidy, Tanner, Madison, Jaxson and Reagan, and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Scotland, also his sister Kelly Titus and sister-in-law Cheryl Galli, who will carry his spirit and legacy forward. From a young age, Dee dreamt of soaring through the skies. At just 17, he left home to chase that dream, working tirelessly to fund his flight training. His early career included crop dusting and various piloting jobs, laying the foundation for his future in aviation. Dee began his commercial flight career in 1963 with Frontier Airlines but found his true home at Continental Airlines in 1966, where he advanced to Captain in a remarkably short time. Over his 18 years with Continental and 12 years with United Airlines, he had the privilege of flying to nearly every corner of the globe. Dee met the love of his life on a blind date in March of 1961 in Salt Lake City arranged by his best friend and brother Ron and his wife Marcia. Their love story developed quickly and just 8 months later Dee flew Kay to Logan, Utah to be married in the temple on November 5, 1962. After retiring in 1997, Dee and Kay relocated to St. George, where they enjoyed life at Bloomington Country Club. There, Dee embraced his passion for golf and flying, dedicating time to the Civil Air Patrol where he loved working with search and rescue. Dee was not just a skilled pilot but also a man who loved spending time with friends and family on the golf course. He enjoyed telling funny stories, doing magic tricks, and playing the harmonica. Dee shared his love of skiing with his family and spent time working with the Snow Basin Ski Patrol. He cherished every moment spent with his family and friends, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. His passion for flight and zest for life will be remembered fondly. The family wishes to thank the skilled doctors, nurses and aids who have generously assisted Dee during this time. Dee was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Darryl Egbert, Rusty Gooding (Jack), Ron Galli, and brother-in-law Mike Titus. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
