Eddie Hernandez

Lupe Eduardo Hernandez, or as most know him as Eddie Hernandez; our amazing father, husband, brother, uncle, son and friends to many, peacefully passed away on October 19th, 2024, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his wife and children. Eddie was a true fighter and fought a hard and courageous battle against a terminal illness that began as stage 3 colon cancer that metastasized to his lungs, liver, stomach and bones over the last 6 years. He fought till his last breath and never gave up. Despite the obstacles put in his path, he always remained positive and courageous. We know that Eddie was reunited and greeted by loved ones on the other side that passed before him, including his Father (Humberto Hernandez). We are confident that they are already laughing and enjoying this joyous reunion together after 37 years of being apart. Eddie, age (49) was born on April 12, 1975, in Provo, Utah to Humberto Hernandez and Sofia Medina. Eddie lived in Arizona with his dad for four years before his dad passed away and then later moved back to Goshen, Utah and eventually to Richfield, Utah. He attended school there, later graduating from Richfield High School. Eddie is the definition of hard worker. He worked many different jobs which included being a Field Supervisor at Coil Tubing Division and a Construction Coordinator at Rio Tinto. He worked all of these jobs to always provide for his wife and kids to give them the best life possible. He met many amazing people along the way throughout all of his jobs, some of which became his closest friends. A few of those friends are Big Chris, Wilson, Chase, and Danny whom Eddie loved and they loved him in return. Eddie is known for his ability to make everyone around him feel loved and welcomed. He would never judge you and immediately welcome you into his home. Eddie was a fighter who never gave up, and never cared what people thought of him. He was one of the most real people you could ever meet and he would do anything for anyone and never judged a book by their cover. If you needed something, he was there. He was always unapologetically himself and many people admired that about him. Eddie is also known for his contagious and lovable smile. A smile with dimples that you could never forget. His smile would light up the room! Wherever you’d go with him, you knew you’d always be laughing and having a good time. Whether you’ve known him for years or just barely met him, you’d leave with your soul filled up with joy. Eddie was proud of a lot of things but his greatest accomplishment has always been his children, who he loved with his entire soul and more. He would do anything for his children and being around them made him his happiest self. Eddie and his wife and kids made a trip to Arizona in September, 2024, which was one of Eddies last wishes. Eddie said that was one of the greatest trips of his life. Many laughs, and memories were made that trip that his wife and kids will hold onto forever. Despite all that Eddie had accomplished in his life, the one thing people will always remember is his wonderful and kind soul, his powerful energy, and the courageous man he was until his last breath in this earthly realm. He married his best friend and true love, Brooke Hernandez, on October 3, 2009, in Richfield, Utah. Brooke and Eddie shared many memories together and despite being apart physically, they will carry their love for each other for eternity. He was the most amazing and loving father to all his children: Cristian, Chayce, Gracee, Hunter, Atlanta, and Rachel. He was always doing his best to embarrass them any chance he got and making them laugh for hours. Eddie's children were his everything and meant so much to him. He loved them with every fiber in his body and soul. Eddie's wife and children will be honoring him in their own private way. The family may do a celebration of life at later time. At this moment that is to be determined, and people will be notified if or when that happens. We ask that you continue to celebrate his life and share the amazing and loving stories you have about him. For as long as he lives in our memories, he is never truly gone. He would want you to know that whenever you are sad or thinking of him to look up in the sky and remind yourself he will always be watching over you. Eddie, you will be missed greatly by so many people. We will continue to find you in everyday things, and honor your life for the rest of our lifetime. The hospice nurses said Eddie wouldn’t have made it past Friday, but if you know Eddie no one can tell him what to do and he has to defy all of those rules and make it 4 mins into Saturday. He gave us endless laughter and memories the last week of his life. Giving his Wife and Daughter continuous sass which is what made Eddie who he is. It’s with great comfort that some of his last moments were hearing his family laugh. Like Eddie always said “IT IS WHAT IT IS.” Eddie is survived by his wife Brooke Hernandez, His Children Cristian Hernandez, Chayce Hernandez, Gracee Hernandez, Hunter Hunt, Atlanta Hernandez, and Rachel Hernandez, His Brothers; Humberto Hernandez Jr, Ricky Hernandez, Jesus Medina, Mario Medina, and Sister; Melissa Toi Faciana, his mother Sofia Medina and stepfather Jesus Medina, his mother in-law; Patti Sanchez, father-in-laws; Rick Sanchez, & Eric Langston. He is preceded in death by his father; Humberto Hernandez, His Grandfathers; Felix Hernandez, and Manuel Alvarez, His Grandmothers; Beatriz Treviso Hernandez and Inez Jurado Alvarez Our family would like to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks for all the care AppleGate Hospice gave to Eddie!
