Ernestina Carrillo

Ernestina Carrillo, 45, of Roy UT, beloved mother, amazing wife, sister, and friends to many, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her husband, kids and sisters. Ernestina was a strong woman and never gave up. She would always say “hasta que dios quiera” which translates to "until god wants”, Ernestina had breast cancer for a little over a year, she would remain positive and would always keep a big smile. We know that Ernestina was reunited and greeted by loved ones on the other side that passed away before her, including her father (Juan Carrillo) and her mother (Esthela Carrillo). We are confident that they are happy they have finally met after 25 years of not seeing each other, laughing and enjoying this joyous reunion together. Born on February 15, 1979, in Zacatecas Mexico, Ernestina only finished school up until 6th grade because it was the normal for kids back then to only go to school up until 6th grade then to start working, so shortly after finishing 6th grade she then worked relentlessly. A couple years later she then met the love of her life Antonio Torres, she lived in Utah for 26 years and had four beloved kids. Ernestina was a beloved mother, strong woman and known for her kindness. She was passionate about her garden, loved plants and enjoyed cooking/baking, hikes, going to church, her kindness would reciprocate with others and she never failed to love her family. She would enjoy going on trips to visit her out of town sisters. She was the best mother anyone could ever think of, always made sure her kids had everything they needed. Ernestina found out she had breast cancer in October 2023 and was fighting ever since, countless days at the hospital, appointment after appointment to find hope of beating cancer. She spent over a month in the hospital during December 2023 due to a big surgery she had, and most doctors were surprised at how she recovered and survived, but we knew she was going to survive because she always was a strong woman. During summer 2024, she received another surgery to remove her cancer, but as soon as we thought this fight was over, her cancer spread to her head, causing a tumor to grow in her head, which caused constant headaches, inability to walk, and loss of sight. The doctors told us there wasn’t a cure for what she had, so as a family, we decided to take her home and cherish every moment we could be with her. It felt so soon but God only knows why she left. Ernestina was loved by many,her sisters; Esther, Susana, Petra, Chabela and her husband, Antonio Torres, her son, Antonio Torres, her daughters, Karla Torres, Katia Torres and Karen Torres, who she will miss dearly. A celebration of Ernestina’s life will be held on 11:00 am on November 22, 2024 at the Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 4050 S 3900 W, West Haven UT, 84401. Viewing will be held at Premier Funeral Services, 5335 South 1950 West, Roy UT, 84067. Ernestina’s warmth, generosity, kindness, and support for others will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Our family would like to extend our sincere and grateful thanks for all the care she received from all the nurses, doctors and translators from Intermountain Health McKay-Dee Hospital and Bristol Hospice.
