Garry Dean Bell

Garry Dean Bell was born on March 4, 1954, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and was the first son of Diane Cooper and Donald Bell. Garry and his brother Larry grew up in Santa Fe, where they liked fishing and hunting. Garry entered the Air Force on August 8, 1975, and retired as a Tech Sargent in August 1995. During his military stint, he was assigned to bases in Germany, England, Korea, Texas, Colorado, South Carolina, California, and Utah. On May 8, 1999, he married the love of his life, Karen, and inherited three lovely daughters, Stacy (Brian), Lindsey (Codye), and Jocelyn (Chris). His family has expanded to include seven grandchildren: Colin, Audra, Elyse, Kate, Johnny, Carter, and Ty. His time as Grandpa was some of his favorite moments of all. Garry loved his weekend drives with his “honey” while looking for critters and taking photos. They would go to Yellowstone a few times each year, planned different adventures across the country, and this past year, went on a trip of a lifetime to Iceland and Ireland. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment with them. Grandpa went above and beyond putting on strange Easter egg hunts, fun adventures, going to movies, planning and playing minute-to-win-it games, and always dressing up as Santa and handing out stockings to every family member full of Christmas treasures. Garry fought a courageous battle with cancer and passed away surrounded by his family on July 9, 2024. Garry was a family man through and through and will be deeply missed. His love and legacy will continue to live on through each of us. Garry was passionate about two non-profit military programs—Adopt-a-Ghost and Community Nursing Services (CNS) Honor Salute. Garry spent much of his time volunteering and was so proud of the work he did and the people he was able to serve. Garry leaves behind his wife, kids, grandkids, brother, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, Granny, and Aunt. Garry’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10:45 a.m. sharp. The service will begin with an Honor Guard, a Celebration of Life, and then a Burrito Bar. Please feel free to join the family in celebrating Garry by wearing red, white, and/or blue. Service will be held at 5555 South 700 West, Murray, UT 84123, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
