Gayalee "Gay" Persinger

Gayalee “Gay” Persinger, 85, passed away on October 26th 2022. Gay was born to Wilford Thompson & Lula Bowmen Thompson on September 18th, 1937 in Ogden, UT. She met the love of her life, Delbert Persinger, on a Friday. It was love at first sight, and they married the following Monday on April 2nd, 1962. They had a wonderful life together with their four children: Lynn, Doug, Gary and Randy. To know Gay was to love her. She was kind & warm, but had no problem giving someone a piece of her mind if need be. She was protective and feisty. She had a green thumb and would talk to her plants. Her family thought she was crazy at times, but she knew what she was doing because she could make anything grow. She got her first tattoo at 77 and once in a while would surprise us all and have the entire room laughing with a joke or smart remark that you would never dream could come from such a sweet old lady. She was the best grandma (and great grandma, and great-great grandma) in the whole world. She would rock all of our babies for hours and hours. She always had time for her grandkids, who were always greeted as Baby, Honey, or Darlin’. In her younger years, she loved taking road trips with her husband. When her kids were grown, she enjoyed taking trips to Wendover with her daughter Lynn and was known to yell at anyone looking at Lynn. She loved spending time with her family. In her last year with us she most looked forward to her Sunday coffee dates with her granddaughter, Crissy. Gay is survived by her children Lynn, Gary, & Randy; Her sisters Cathy and Joyce, and her brothers Dean (Linda) & Dan; her 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, her son Doug, her niece Donna & her nephew Shawn. Her family would like to extend their appreciation to her nurse, Paige, with Inspiration Hospice. We will remember you with every morning cup of coffee, every old country song, every time we feel like we’d rather have dessert instead of dinner, and every time these grandbabies of yours do or say something that we know you would have loved. We will miss your presence more than words could ever say, but we find peace in knowing that you are out of pain and reunited with your family and your husband, with whom you shared a love so beautiful and rare that it gave the rest of us belief in soulmates. We can only imagine the celebration that is taking place up there.
