Jayson Austin Christensen

Jayson passed away October 27, 2023, surrounded by those that loved him the most. He was born on April 23, 1972, to Steve Christensen and Jodie Jensen, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was their only child. Jayson graduated from Brighton High School in 1990, where he played on their football team as a Brighton Bengal. There was not a sport out there that he didn’t thrive at. In his younger years he was an avid and skilled pitcher in baseball. He was a born thrill seeker and natural athlete. His love for the outdoors was unwavering. He found joy in countless outdoor activities, including downhill skiing, snowmobiling with his dad and grandpa, and all water sports, especially slalom water skiing. He also had a strong love for any and all adventures that came with camping, such as outdoor shooting, SXS riding, 4wheeling, fishing and motocross. He found so much peace when he would visit Moab, St. George and Marysvale, Utah. He found pride in cooking, grilling and smoking food for his family and friends, and the food was legendary. Some of his favorites were smoked salmon, turkey, brisket and prime rib. His specialty that will be missed the most is his grilled steaks. He was a diligent hard worker. In the beginning of his career and at a young age, he worked for a family owned business called Sports Trax Kawasaki. After that, he worked for BMW of Murray as a Service Advisor for nearly 10 years, where he discovered his passion for the auto industry. This love pushed him to start his own business, Alternative European Automotive. Additionally, he worked for Walmart and Lowes where he was promoted several times in a short period with hard work he put in. His love for his family ran deep. He showed his love to them through countless acts of service that brought smiles that never faded. Those acts were included and not limited to, building his kids bedrooms from the ground up (thanks to his natural love and talent with carpentry), assisting his grandpa with upkeep on his rentals, and our favorite of all is the magic he brought into every Christmas Season. The memories we gained will forever be cherished in the hearts of those that loved him. Jayson married the love of his life and best friend, Tamara Jean Cotton on October 21, 2010. They just celebrated 13 years of marriage and 14.5 together. Throughout their years together they shared laughter and love with their hearts and souls. They were inseparable, and it was rare to find them without each other. Through their marriage they were blessed with their daughter, Madison. The loss of loved ones throughout their marriage built a bond that couldn’t be broken. They enjoyed cooking delicious meals together, getting sushi and oysters, watching the Utah Utes Football games, camping, and doing all the outdoor sports Jayson loved. They were truly a match made in heaven. Jayson’s children each had an individual imprint on his heart that they all felt strongly. His children and his grandchildren were his world. He is survived by his loving wife Tami, his daughter Ashley (Peter), his son Jay, his daughter Emily, his son Colby, his daughter Madison, his best friend, their Bulldog Cooper, and his beautiful Granddaughters, Remington, Ivy, Marlee and Sunny. He is preceded in death by his great grandma Austin, his paternal grandparents Jack and Bonnie Christensen and his maternal grandparents Dewey and Betty Jensen. He is finally reunited with his father, Steve Christensen and his mother Jodie Steele, who he never went a day without grieving. A viewing in his honor will be held on Saturday, November 4th from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM (PREVIOUSLY PLANNED from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM) at Premier Funeral Services (67 E. 8000 S. Midvale UT 84047).
