John Blaine Joseph

John Blaine Joseph passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023, at the age of 84. Known by many in his early career as JJ, John was born on June 9, 1938, in Birmingham, England, to Alvin William Joseph and Florence Louise Goode. He spent his early years in Handsworth with his older sister Pat, with whom he remained close throughout his life, especially in their later years. John was born with a cheery and kind personality and despite losing his mother at the age of two, he remained a happy child. Throughout his life, John had an infectious positivity that endeared him to all who knew him. In 1966, John's life changed forever when he met the love of his life, June Fountain, in Scotland. Within one week of meeting, John knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and he proposed marriage. They waited patiently to be granted permission by June's father and in 1967 they were married in Hull, Yorkshire and sealed together in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple in London, England. They immediately purchased a home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, and started building their family. Their first child, Adam, was born just nine months later, followed by Mark, Spencer, Jared, Ruth, Rachael, Eve, Emma, Kathleen, and David. John and June devoted their lives to raising their children, and their home was always filled with love, laughter, music and warmth. Their family was their greatest joy. They instilled in their children the same values of faith, hard work and compassion that they had always held dear. During these happy years, John worked as a sheet metal worker, and was the last surviving member of a skilled team of prototypes who hand-built the aluminum Jaguar E-Type racing car. As the car manufacturing industry began to move out of Coventry, John adapted and started a small carpet cleaning company called Joseph's Dream Clean. Known for his jolly disposition and colorful decorated Toyota van, John became a well-known figure around town. John was a hard worker who took pride in his craft, and his dedication was evident in the loyal clientele he built over the years. Despite the demands of raising a large family, John remained committed to his work and often went above and beyond to provide exceptional service. He even chauffeured his children in his trusty van across the lengths of England to ensure their safe arrival at church events, all while maintaining his busy schedule. John's unwavering work ethic and devotion to his children were an inspiration to all who knew him. John was a lifelong and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and his unwavering faith was an integral part of his life. Throughout his life, he selflessly served his community in numerous callings bringing joy and happiness to everyone he met. His infectious energy, generosity and kindness will be forever remembered. John's compassionate heart was always on display through his hospitality. He never hesitated to welcome anyone in need into his home with open arms and a warm meal. He often went above and beyond, sending them away with one of his coats or clothing to warm their day. His acts of kindness touched the lives of many and left a lasting impact on those he encountered. His commitment to building strong relationships and upholding the values of a Christian home was evident in the lasting bonds he forged with his closest friends and family, especially his beloved wife June and their children. In 1996, John, June, and their five youngest children immigrated from Warwickshire, England to South Jordan, Utah, where they purchased a beautiful home with an unobstructed view of the Wasatch Mountains. John's expertise in sheet metal fabrication allowed him to create intricate metal features in various locations around Temple Square in Salt Lake City and even at Grand Central Station in New York City. In his free time, John cherished the opportunity to spend quality time with his sister Pat, who had immigrated decades earlier; they made up for lost time by creating precious memories together. John and June also found a loving and supportive community within their church family, who welcomed them with open arms and made them feel right at home. John is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, June Joseph; his children, Mark, Spencer, Jared, Ruth, Rachael, Eve, Emma, Kathleen, David, and Gary Cotterill; his 19 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild, who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Judie Joseph. John was preceded in death by his dear mother, Florence Louise Goode; his father, Alvin William Joseph; his beloved sister, Patricia Anne Beale; and his beautiful son, Adam Joseph.
