Kay Child Dunham

Kay Child Dunham May 12, 1948 - September 17, 2016. Kay Child Dunham passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimers. Kay was born May 12th, 1948 in Pomona, California to Junior Wright Child and Joan Sprately Child. She was married to Edward Steven Flink from 1964-1994. They were blessed with five children who brought her so much joy. On November 20, 1999, she married and was sealed for time and all eternity to Stephen Gerling Dunham in the Bountiful Utah Temple. They resided in Lake Havasu, Arizona for the majority of their marriage, and moved to Clinton, Utah in 2014. Kay enjoyed life to the fullest. Her husband, kids and grandchildren were the love of her life. She spent countless hours at sporting events for kids and grandchildren. She was active in soccer and racquetball. She loved spending time with her beloved friends. Kay was full of life and energy and had an infectious laugh. She loved to play the piano, and sing with the voice that her family loved and will never forget, even her adorable dog “Bengee" loved to listen to her. Kay lived life to the fullest, loving adventure and trying new things, like her motorcycle rides through the canyon and driving her little red sports car. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved serving as Stake Relief Society President of the Lake Havasu City Stake. She also served in various callings in the Young Women. She loved serving and helping others. She had a deep love for her Savior, and the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. During her marriage to Stephen, they spent time traveling all over the world including China, Switzerland, Alaska and Hawaii. In 2002, one of the highlights of their marriage was when they had the opportunity to participate in the Hill Cumorah Pageant, in Palmyra New York. They loved their time there together. They learned to serve and love while growing in faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. In 2004, Kay was diagnosed with early Alzheimers disease. Her beloved companion, Stephen spent unwavering love and devotion in caring for her as they both endured the struggles and challenges associated with Alzheimers. Kay is preceded in death by her mother and grandparents. She is survived by her loving devoted sweetheart, Stephen G. Dunham; Father, J.R Child; sister, Jan (Bill) Evans; Five children Steve (Jill) Flink, Debbie (Mike) Carlsen, Kristy (Jared) Berrett, Jeff (Nicole) Flink and Tracy (Trent) Lindstrom. Five step-children; Matthew (Stacy) Dunham, Libby Jeffries, Andrew (Dana) Dunham, Robert (Shallian) Dunham and Karl Dunham. She is also survived by 31 loving grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept 21, 2016 at the LDS Church at 2206 West 2300 North Clinton Utah, 84015. Friends may visit family at the church, during a viewing Tuesday evening, Sept 20th from 6-8 p.m. and a Wednesday morning 10 - 10: 45 a.m. viewing prior to the funeral. Interment, Clinton Cemetery, Clinton City Utah.
