Leonardo "Leo" Redocto

Leonardo "Leo" Redocto, a proud veteran, passed away on July 25, 2025, at the age of 88. He is now free from his ailing body. Born on September 2, 1936, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Leo was a small child during the attack on Pearl Harbor in World War II. He also experienced hardship early in life with the passing of his mother at a young age. Despite hardships, the warmth, resilience, and humility of his island roots carried him throughout his life. In 1956, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force, graduating as a munition’s specialist. He went on to serve an admirable 28-year career, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant (SMSGT). Leo’s military service took him across the world—from his first duty assignment in Texas to the far reaches of Okinawa, Michigan, France (during the Berlin Crisis), Thailand, Italy, Korea, and Vietnam. His duties included munitions maintenance, inspection, and delivery of air munitions to fighter squadrons for air combat missions. He spent much of his time on the flight line. Each assignment was a chapter in a life committed to duty, precision, and sacrifice. His final post brought him to Hill Air Force Base in Utah, where he later retired from active duty. Shortly after, he began his civilian career at Hill Air Force Base, where he held various roles over the years. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1992 and retired in 2006. After retiring from HAFB, Leo remained active by working as a security officer for different agencies and locations. He enjoyed staying busy and meeting new people, continuing to work until he was medically required to fully retire at the age of 86. Being strong-willed, he certainly did not enjoy having his independence taken from him, but understood it was finally time. Leo enjoyed learning new things and always stayed current with world events. He held strong political views but welcomed respectful, opposing conversations. He was a friendly man with a contagious smile, a great sense of humor, and captivating stories. Some of his past hobbies included going to the shooting range, earning a black belt in Tang Soo Do, reading, and dining at his favorite restaurants—especially Korean cuisine. He also enjoyed taking swing and line dance lessons. At times, you might hear him singing along to his favorite songs. He simply enjoyed life. Leo cherished visiting family in Las Vegas and Hawaii, with his last trip taking place in 2022. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, LaRae Brown Redocto; stepchildren Raelyn (Josh) Boman, James (Ingrid) Marshall, and Todd (Lisa) Marshall; children from two previous marriages—Samantha Redocto, Michael Redocto, Charles Redocto—and many grandchildren. He will be happy to reunite with his son Lenford, who passed away in 2022. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Synergy Home Health, Independence Home Health, and the staff at Cogir of Lotus Park Assisted Living for their care and companionship. He was truly blessed to have received such support. With love, may he rest in eternal peace. A memorial service to celebrate Leo’s life and honor his service will be held at the Riverdale Community Center, located at 4360 Parker Dr., Riverdale, UT 84405, on Friday, August 29th, from 4–6 PM, open house style. At a later date, he will have a private ceremony with an honorable military salute at the Veterans Memorial, after which he will be sent to Hawaii—his native homeland—to be among his ʻohana.
