Leslie Jon Gray

Leslie Jon Gray passed away at the age of 81 on May 19, 2024. He was born in Shelley, Idaho on August 30, 1942, to his parents Leslie Earl Gray and Lillian Annette Bradshaw Gray. John was the fourth child of seven children. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gladys Elaine Gray and his sister, Colleen, brother Jerry, and a baby sister who died shortly after birth. He is survived by his sisters Evelyn, Karen, and Patricia, as well as his children, Todd, Kevin, Ryan, Stacey, and Erin. He is also survived by 15 grandkids and 5 great grandkids. Our father was raised on a small farm in Shelley, Idaho and attended a one room schoolhouse on York Road that he rode his horse to until he attended Idaho Falls High School. John met his sweetheart Elaine Jensen at Bairs Truck stop while she worked at the café, and he worked as a mechanic. He said mom would make him a malt milk shake and take them out to where he was working and that won his heart. After getting married on March 2, 1961, they moved to Pocatello, ID so dad could attend Idaho State University. It was here that their first son, Jon Todd, was born, and later they moved to SLC, Utah and graduated from Weltch College for computers and this is where their second son, Kevin Lynn, was born. Dad was hired by Control Data and went to Minnesota for more training and when he was done, they moved us to Los Angeles, CA. After a year in LA our family moved to Idaho Falls so my dad could work at the INEL Site, and this is where their third son, Ryan Earl, was born. While in Idaho on February 14, 1967, they had their marriage solemnized in the Idaho Falls temple. We next moved to Denver, Colorado where our sister, Stacey Ann, was born. Finally, 1971 we moved to Layton, UT and planted our roots. Layton is where our last sister was born, Erin Leigh. Dad raised his family in Utah where he served in his ward with multiple callings, he was a boy scout leader, a softball and football Coach, and good dad. He worked hard on multiple jobs providing for and raising a loving family. He had triumphs and failures and life was difficult for him at times but his wife and kids loved him so what more can you ask for. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday May 22, 2024 at the Kaysville City Cemetery.
