Lynda Lee Allred

On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, Lynda Lee Allred (Scott) slipped into heavenly peace. She was surrounded by her loving husband, children, and beloved sister. Lynda, our sweet mom, was only 64 and taken too soon from a battle with cancer. Lynda was an exceptionally loving person and led with her shining example – she had a powerful testimony of the atonement of Christ and was a diligent member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Lynda began her earthly journey on September 7, 1959. She was born to her dear parents, Doug and Ruth Scott, in Murray, UT. She told countless stories of her idyllic childhood full of love and adventures with her parents, sister Pamela Scott, and brother Brad Scott. During her childhood and throughout her time at Murray High School, Lynda cultivated a passion for art. She saw the beauty in everything around her and wanted to share it with those she loved. She was a multi-talented artist and passed this love for creativity to her children. On November 3, 1977, Lynda met the love of her life – Marshall Allred. It was love at first sight, and they were engaged after just three weeks of dating and married five months later. In April, they would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary. Together, Lynda and Marshall had eight children, three boys and five girls. She always insisted that they planned every child. Lynda dedicated the majority of her life to raising these children. If we had to describe our mom in just one word, it would be Agape. The kind of love given by a person willing to do anything for another without expecting anything in return – the highest form of Christlike love. She gave each of us everything we could have asked for and much more. Growing up, she always wanted to be a mom; boy, was she a good one. She taught us all the meaning of love, kindness, and patience and made us believe we could achieve anything we set our minds to. Lynda was a jack of all trades and somehow a master of all of them. She was a skilled artist, homemaker, caretaker, cook, storyteller, singer, seamstress, and listener. Lynda loved nature, especially birds and flowers. She relished every chance to work outside in her garden and never missed an opportunity to feed the neighborhood birds. Whenever the sun was shining, you could hear birds singing in her yard, and we would often have strangers come to the door to say how much they admired her garden. She would spend hours outside if the day allowed. She loved the feeling of the sun on her face, dirt on her hands, and sand between her toes. Lynda had a way with words and the capability to take anything and make it beautiful and unique – designed specifically for the person she created it for. Her sense of charity didn’t stop at her family; Lynda loved her callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served valiantly. She spent most of her church service working in the Primary and Nursery. Lynda loved children and was perfectly patient in all things. Lynda’s legacy of love is survived in death by her husband Marshall Allred, her children Ike & Betsey Allred, Annie & Roger Davies, Candace & Christopher Young, Jessica & Aaron Minardi, Natasha Allred, Chelsie & Joshua Salazar, Levi & Bethany Allred, and Elijah & Rachel Allred; and 24 (soon to be 25) grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She is also survived by her sister, Pamela Scott, her brother, Brad Scott, and her mother-in-law, Joyce Allred. Lynda also has many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws. In the end, Lynda was eager to return to our Father in Heaven. She always had peace knowing she could leave her mortal existence soon. Despite everything, she lived with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. We are comforted by the knowledge of her joyous reunion with her dear mom and dad (Doug and Ruth Scott), her father-in-law (Alan Allred), and sister-in-law (Stacie Rodgers), who all preceded her in death. We will say our bittersweet goodbyes to our beautiful mother, Lynda, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. There will be a brief viewing from 10:00 am to 11:45 am at her ward building, 5080 S 3100 W, Roy, UT 84067. The funeral services will be held on the same day and location, beginning at noon. Our perfect mother will be buried at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park in Ogden, UT. We are beyond grateful for the kindness that we have received during these difficult times. We want to express a special thank you to the care teams at McKay Dee Hospital and the Intermountain Homecare and Hospice Staff, namely Julie Lee. They played a critical part in keeping her as comfortable as possible at the very end. We would also like to thank Premier Funeral Services for helping us take care of our mother’s body.
