Layton, UT — Alfred Rex Guin, SMSgt, retired At peace, surrounded by loved ones in his home, Rex passed on at 5/13/2020. Family, Duty, and Honor came before all else. Rex is survived by his loving wife and daughter, Raymonde Guin & Denise Lyon Greenfield. He leaves behind two grandchildren Molly & Finnegan. With love and broken hearts, are son-in-law Howard Greenfield, Charlie and Andrea Lyon. Left grieving are his siblings Billie Jean Willcutt “Jeannie”, Tomasena Guin, Johnnie Ruth Thompson, and Julas Ray Guin. Preceding him in death are his son, Michael Thomas, parents and siblings: Ruby & Claude Guin, Donna, Samuel, Frankie, and Bobbie Guin Gray. Born in Guin, AL, Rex worked on the family farm. They did not have a lot of money, but were rich in love. Rex’s wife, Rae, was his entire world. Together they built a life, with a view of the mountains. Their daughter’s achievements were a source of continuing pride. Their granddaughter Molly brought sunshine back to their home as well. He joined the Air force in 1954, working tirelessly to become a highly decorated Senior Master Sergeant. He was a recognized marksmen, and leader. Never one to rest, Rex obtained multiple college degrees while continuing to work with the military, even after retirement.
