August 7, 1954 - June 15, 2022
Andrew Stanley Bogatko 1954 - 2022 It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Andrew (Bo) Stanley Bogatko. Andrew passed away peacefully on June 15, 2022 after a long struggle with early-onset Parkinson’s Disease. Always determined and never one to wallow in self-pity he carried on for 23 years with this insidious disease. His generosity, humility and humor were inherent qualities beloved by all as well as an ability to cook delicious meals for family and friends. He was never fearful, always protective and his quiet strength and hard work ethic was instilled in his children. They were, and remain, the two most precious gifts given. Andrew set a high bar serving his country in the Air Force for ten years and because of his example, his son Duane decided to do the same, serving in the Navy for 25 years, first as Enlisted then retiring as Lt Commander/pilot flying the C-2 Greyhound. Now Duane’s son serves in the Navy recently graduating from OCS, Officer’s Candidate School in Rhode Island. Andrew (Bo) was born in Bialogard, Poland August 7, 1954 the last child and only son of Sophie and Charles Bogatko. He and his family immigrated to New Jersey in 1960 where he attended grade school at St Anthony’s and graduated from Dickinson High School in Jersey City, NJ in 1972. He joined the U. S. Air Force in April 1973 and while stationed at Hill AFB, Utah, Andrew met his first and only love, Cynthia (Cindy) Miller, marrying five months later in February 1975. Their union produced two children, a son Duane (Heather) of Flower Mound, TX and daughter, Amy, Kaysville, UT. Also, survived by grandchildren: Patience Peterson (Zack) Kuna, ID, Cody Bogatko, Virginia Beach, VA and Riley Bogatko, Flower Mound, TX as well as his sister, Sophie Keleman (Roman) Valley Stream, NY. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Sophie as well as an older sister Yadwiga Pajeosz in Poland. After Andrew spent 10 years in the USAF as a Biomedical Repairman he wanted a more challenging and rewarding career with Philips Medical Systems so joined them in 1983. He worked as a Senior Service Engineer for 28 years where he was widely respected by his peers and those in the x-ray field throughout Northern Utah and the Western US, working tirelessly and diligently until the effects of Parkinson’s overwhelmed all things in his life. It was with great reluctance he retired in 2011. We would like to thank Inspiration Home Health Care and Hospice for their faithful and loving care. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on July 9 at the home of Cindy Bogatko. In lieu of flowers please give to whomever you feel is in need whether it be monetary, a tasty meal or even some humor to brighten their day. “For your life has lived in me, your laugh once lifted me, your word was gift to me. To remember this brings painful joy. ‘Tis a human thing, love, a holy thing, to love what death has touched.” Yehuda Halevi
