Barbara Joan Hungerford Jones

Barbara Joan Hungerford Jones was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. She shared her childhood with her brother, Tom. She married Wesley R. Jones in Plymouth, Connecticut, and they had two children, Alison “Lisa” and Doug. She has two grandchildren, Hannah and Cheyenne. During the first half of their marriage, she and Wesley lived in Massachusetts, Delaware, Maine, South Dakota, and Virginia. Wesley was a wildlife biologist and they lived on two National Wildlife refuges; one was Bombay Hook in Delaware and the other was Moosehorn in Maine. They settled in NW Wisconsin. Barbara moved to Utah in 2005 after the death of Wesley so she could be closer to her children. She died in Sandy, Utah on August 25, 2017 at the age of 84. She is interred at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin with Wesley. Barbara loved fiber arts, including spinning and weaving. She had a large loom and wove baby blankets, rugs, and hand towels. She belonged to a fiber arts guild and loved the camaraderie. She shared her skills by demonstrating spinning and weaving for the local community. Barbara was an avid flower gardener, a passion she acquired from her father. She loved going for walks, playing bridge, reading and being outdoors. She volunteered at a hospital and a nursing home. She was a good sport and while shy, very sociable. Barbara had a good sense of humor. Her love and support of her children and grandchildren was boundless. She had a life well lived and will be very deeply missed.
