January 15, 1940 - June 21, 2014
Bonnie Jean McPhee Eastmond January 15, 1940 – June 21, 2014 Our sweet and always selfless wife, mother, and grandmother, Bonnie Jean McPhee Eastmond passed away peacefully June 21, 2014 with her sweetheart at her side. She is the center of our family and has forever left her mark on each one of us. Bonnie was born January 15, 1940 in Laramie, Wyoming to Albert Emerson McPhee and Mabel Elizabeth Burton. She graduated from Laramie high school and later received her bachelor’s degree in secretarial science from The University of Wyoming. Soon after she graduated she moved to Santa Barbara, California for work where she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She then took employment at Brigham Young University where she met her eternal companion Elbert (Bert) John Eastmond Jr. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 2, 1966. They made their home in Orem, Utah and were blessed with five children. Following Bert’s retirement from Brigham Young University they moved to American Fork, Utah where they have resided for the past 20 years. Bonnie’s life’s work was focused solely on her family. Nobody took more joy in the work of a mother than she did. Anybody who knew Bonnie knows that you could not have a conversation with her without her sharing stories of her family. She was always friendly and found great pleasure in searching out new people to meet. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, trying out new recipes on her family, and especially family-get-togethers. Bonnie was active in the Church and served in many capacities throughout her life. Bonnie served with her husband as a full time missionary in the Eugene Oregon mission from 2001–2003. Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Albert McPhee Jr. She is survived by her husband Bert, sister Marilyn Call of San Antonio, Texas, children Mark (Becky) Eastmond of Lehi, Utah, Scott (Christy) Eastmond of Lehi, Utah, Steve Eastmond of Lehi, Utah, Loriann Buchanan (Jim) of Rigby, Idaho, and Brian Eastmond of Herriman, Utah. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork, Hillcrest 3rd Ward Chapel, 1120 N. 150 W. American Fork, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, June 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the same location and prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery. Bonnie’s family wishes to thank neighbors, friends, and health and hospice providers who have loved and cared for her the past few months.
