Boyd Palmer Williams Sr. (Pops, was born in Delano, Tn to Miles and Millie (Ward) Williams. He was the oldest of 4 children. Pops left home at the age of 15 in early 1945 to join the United States Army Air Corps and served in Europe in World War 2 as a Liaison Pilot flying B-25 Mitchell bombers. After being discharged 1946, Pops then became a truck driver in the Appalachia area of Tennessee and North Carolina. In 1950 at the start of the Korean War, Pops re-enlisted for duty with the United States Army and was a member of Company B 3rd Battalion 31st Infantry. Most notable, was his participation in a battle that has become to be known as The Battle Of Chosen Reservoir. He served until the end of the conflict in 1953. After his second enlistment he returned to being a truck driver and a private pilot. He held many different pilot licenses and certifications. He retired as a member of the Teamsters Union and spent 30 years with the Union and retired at age 50. He then pursued his jump rating (parachute) from the Sky diver club in Williston Florida, and continued to fly until his age of 65. He was a lifelong Harley Davidson enthusiast owning many of that brand of motorcycle. He was also a mechanic, a welder, millwright and a jack of many trades. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara Alice Williams of 20 years in 1998. He was also preceded in death by his oldest son Raymond Williams. He is survived by his 2 children Debra Lee Williams of Elyria, Ohio and Boyd Palmer Williams Jr of Cottonwood Heights, UT, and Pam Fuentes and Rick Goble, his stepchildren. There will be no funeral, memorial service or viewing as his wishes were no formal "crying and slinging of snot". And since he lived his life at full throttle kicking and screaming a 'Hootenanny' or 'celebration of life' is scheduled for August 19, 2011 at his sons residence in Cottonwood Heights.
