December 17, 1985 - September 24, 2019
Brandon Scott Gray died Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at Utah Valley Hospital after struggling with congestive heart failure for over a year. Brandon was born December 17, 1985, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Bart Evan and Amanda Van Wagoner Gray. His grandfather described him as a “golden child” as he was such a sweet, smart, and loving little boy. Brandon attended school and lived most of his life in Lehi. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ. As his mother expressed, “Brandon will be missed for now and loved forever.” Brandon’s aunt Shanna shared ten memorable things about “Brandido”— He loved our family’s get-togethers at the Van Wagoner cabin in Big Cottonwood Canyon. He loved the family Canada trip in 1996. He liked the Rocky Horror Picture Show. He liked The Golden Girls and I Love Lucy nostalgia tv shows. He liked science fiction and fantasy movies, and novels like The Wizard of Oz and The Little Mermaid. The last movie he saw with us was Godzilla: King of the Monsters. He was skilled at various video games like Frogger, and was technologically savvy. He loved music, especially No Doubt, Evanescence, Yaz, Journey, and Oingo Boingo. He had a sense of humor like no other, and liked to have fun times with others. He’d get excited in discussions of philosophical or mysterious ideas. We all remember how interesting and unique Brandon was. But we should also share how challenging his life was before he could fully acknowledge being gay. His life was also complicated by an ongoing struggle with addiction. But we’re now finding comfort in his freedom from physical pain and the thought that he’s sharing a joyous afterlife with his Aunt Lisa, Grandpa Richard, and Grandma Naomi. He is survived by his parents: Bart, Amanda, and Peter K. Snell (stepfather); siblings: Travis B Gray, Dylan P. Snell, Kelly A. Snell, Ashlee J. Snell; grandparents: Richard S. Van Wagoner (deceased), Mary C. Walker (Steve), Gary Gray (Linda), Naomi C. Gray (deceased). Graveside Services will be at Lehi City Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.
