Brian Louw

May 24, 1946 - August 5, 2021

Brian Louw, 75, of Orem, UT passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021. He was born in Springs, South Africa to I.C. and Mavis Louw with older siblings Ron, Marlene, and Beverley. His family immigrated to Calgary, Canada when he was 14. As an adult, he eventually followed his family to Southern California where he met and married his beautiful wife, Leslie Snelgrove. Brian is survived by his wife Leslie and their six children, Hiedi (Josh), Stephanie (Brandon), Jennifer (Ian), Gwen (Eli), Marnae (Dennis), Izak (Kensie), and their 17 grandchildren. Brian was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served an LDS building mission in Utica, New York and the Eastern States in 1964. Brian was loyal, honest, trustworthy, and patriotic. Brian was unforgettable with his booming voice and energetic laugh. He had a huge passion for life. Beneath his tough exterior was a tender heart. He showed his love through service and by sharing his talents with family, friends, and neighbors. He was a genius when it came to anything mechanical, engineering projects, creating his own tools, or coming up with solutions to fix problems and things. He worked with his children to build, customize, and remodel their homes. Brian believed in working hard and playing even harder. He loved anything automotive. He built and raced a professional funny car “Banzai”, being undefeated until he gave it up to raise a family.  He operated an outdoor go kart track for several years, fabricating over 50 custom karts. He loved being in the mountains, motorbiking, clearing trails for others to enjoy, or cycling. He loved swimming, water skiing, jet skiing, boogie boarding, and being at the beach. He loved dancing and earned the nickname “rubber legs”. He loved chasing and teasing his kids and grandkids and was affectionately known as the “tickle monster”. He was a jokester as a kid and as an adult, often playing pranks with his siblings and friends. To participate in the services online please visit the link below. Brian had 20 transfusions in the last weeks of his life and these blood donations were a blessing that could be paid forward. Another cause Brian liked to support was the general missionary fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
