Burdette Jane Powell
January 10, 1950 - January 21, 2014
Our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and dear friend, Burdette J Powell, passed away peacefully on January 21st 2014 at home. Burdette passed on surrounded by her family after a long and very courageous battle with cancer. Burdette was born on January 10th 1950 to Vern and Mary Jensen in American Fork, Utah. She attended school in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1968. There, she was active on the yearbook committee and a cheerleader. She married George Almon Lux on July 18, 1969 and had 2 sons, Ryan and Adam Lux. George passed away in 1975 after a small plane crash. She married Don Harris in Las Vegas, NV 1977 and had 1 daughter Lisa Dawn. She married Bryant James Powell on August 6, 1983 in Pleasant Grove. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together, they raised 8 children in Lehi, Utah. Burdette was then blessed with 18 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter, with 1 great grand- son due this June. Bryant and Burdette enjoyed over 30 years together and created a home that all who entered felt welcomed in. Burdette was always a caregiver and a provider of service. Whether it was taking care of her husband and children, serving on the ambulance in Lehi, or her years as a Registered Nurse for IHC, she was an inspiration example of service to her family and many friends. She spent many years on bowling leagues, and was an avid fisher-woman. She loved camping, sewing, scrapbooking, going to yard sales, collecting thimbles, country music and spending time with her family. She was an active and devoted member of the LDS Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; Vern and Mary Jensen, her brother Pete Jensen, her first husband George Lux and her beloved friend, Marilyn Adams. She is survived by her husband Bryant James Powell and 8 children; Ryan Lux, Adam Lux, Alecia Powell, Tameron (Wendy) Powell, Britton (Mike) Sherman, Lisa (Kay) Powell, Aaron (Mayra) Powell and Alec Powell. A Viewing will be held on Friday, January 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lehi 5th Ward building located at 481 East 300 North, Lehi UT and on Saturday January 25th from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. with Funeral Service at 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the same location. Burial will follow the services at the Lehi City Cemetery.
