Caroline Brezoff

January 22, 1927 - November 25, 2015

Caroline Brezoff passed away on November 25th to spend Thanksgiving Day with her loving family members who preceded her in death. She was 88 years old. Caroline was born in Roebling, New Jersey to Stephen and Caroline Csik. They were Hungarian immigrants and she was extremely proud of her Hungarian heritage. She grew up in Roebling and Florence, New Jersey. She attended business school and was employed by the Roebling Mill as a private secretary. In 1953 she married Goodwin Donnelly III. Goodwin had walked her home from school carrying her books and had taken her to the school prom. Goodwin was a Naval officer and he and Caroline left New Jersey to live in many places. Their children were born in Philadelphia, PA, Kodiak, AK, and Minneapolis, MN. Their last Navy assignment was at the Naval Oceanographic Distribution Center in Clearfield, Utah. Carol was proud to be a Navy wife for 27 years until she was widowed in 1980. She later met and married John Brezoff, a handsome widower, who liked to dance as much as she did. In their retirement they enjoyed many happy years of gardening on their Kaysville property and taking road trips during 19 happy years together. John passed away in 2006. Caroline was an excellent cook and won Utah State Fair ribbons for her beautiful embroidery work. She was active in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also loved bingo and gambling in Wendover where she was always unusually lucky. She is survived by her daughters: Elaine Donnelly, Diana Porter (Boyd), Carol Lynn Clausson (Colin), son Goodwin Donnelly IV, step-daughter Jan Wray, step-son Mark Brezoff (Dellena), many grand children and great grand children, nieces, nephews, and her beloved cat Hobson. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Linda Birt and Shirley Lynch. Thank you to Dr. Catherine Coles and Dr. Lenthe for superb care and a special thank you to Dr. Andrew Coles for excellent care and incomparable bedside manner. Thanks also to David, Shelby, and Danielle from Access Home Health for their excellent and professional care, Professional Pharmacy, Kip of Greathouse Lawn Service, Lynn from Old Mill Salon, Fred Wolfe (CPA), and thanks to her many kind friends and neighbors. The entire family wishes to express their gratitude to the Chancellor Gardens staff and residents for their kindness shown not only to Caroline but to her family as well. A funeral mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2015 followed by a memorial gathering at the church. A dinner party will also be held in her honor at a later date. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to http://utah.bestfriends.org/our-programs/spay-and-neuter.
