December 8, 1936 - January 22, 2021
Charles Norman Egan Our beloved husband and devoted father, Charles Norman Egan, passed away January 22, 2021 at the age of 84. Norm was born December 8, 1936, to Charles Stewart Egan and Helen Irene Pettigrew Egan in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he grew up and lived. He was the oldest of 3 children. His siblings are Gary (Carol) Egan and Helen Kaye (Morris) Egan Taylor. He was a lifetime missionary! He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the England, London Mission, and he later served an inner-city mission with his beautiful and favorite “companion,” Ruth. He loved sharing his strong testimony of, and love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was instrumental in bringing peace and happiness to so many, through teaching them the gospel and sharing his beautiful missionary lessons with his family and countless others. He married his eternal sweetheart, Ruth White Egan, on June 24, 1959, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a loving husband and absolutely adored Ruthie with all his heart. They had a love story like no other! He truly worshipped her, and constantly exemplified what a perfect gentleman should be! He was so proud of being her husband for 61 years! He was a successful custom homebuilder and carpenter for over 70 years where he built nearly 2,000 gorgeous homes in the area. He was the hardest worker, and bravely provided for his 8 children. Any job he did, he was sure to complete with excellence! Norm’s family and faith were the center of his life. He loved people, and immediately saw the good in everyone. His cute smile and sense of humor quickly put everyone at ease. He was a trusted friend to everyone he knew. He was always aware of those around him that might need extra love and help, and he was happy to serve them. His natural compassion had a way of making friends feel as if they were his family. He worked hard, but he also loved to play hard! He enjoyed many outdoor activities: snowmobiling, boating, waterskiing, hunting, camping, and shooting. Norm had a need for speed! He was always competitive, and loved to race his souped-up trucks, sporty cars, snowmobiles, boats, and any other toys he could race. Many friends and strangers have been challenged to race him, as Norm would give them a little nod, with a twinkle in his eyes! Every single vehicle or toy he owned was kept in perfectly immaculate condition. He held many callings and was an incredible example to others in his church: Scout Leader, Priest Quorum Advisor, Ward Mission Leader, High Priest Group Leader, and he served in two Bishoprics throughout his life. Norm and Ruth recently moved to Beehive Homes in South Jordan, after 50 years of living in their home in East Millcreek. They love their many neighbors and friends. Norm is preceded in death by his father (Stewart), mother (Irene), step-mother (Dortha) and his beautiful daughter, Suzette Kaye Egan Graham. This great Patriarch is survived by: his wife, 7 kids, 59 grandkids, 19 great-grandkids, (many more on the way), his brother, and sister. Funeral services will be held privately. Please share your comments and memories with our family at www.premier funeral.com. We are so happy he finally gets to retire! GOD BE WITH YOU TIL WE MEET AGAIN!
