Colleen Elizabeth Harward

August 24, 1933 - April 10, 2020

Colleen Elizabeth Harward, age 87, passed away peacefully, on April 10, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones. Colleen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Morrell Best and Clara Peterson Best. Married Vern Harward on March 15, 1952 in Reno, Nevada. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Colleen was an extraordinary, loving, and devoted woman. She and her husband Vern worked at The Jordan Commons Theater together after Vern retired. They would dress up as Mr. and Mrs. Claus every Christmas for the children there. Everyone who knew her throughout her life absolutely adored her. She had a huge heart full of love, and a great sense of humor. She loved her family, friends, children, and animals with all of her heart. She was an avid and extremely talented crocheter, as well as arts and crafts. She loved Victorian, and country styles for the home. Both Vern and Colleen were the most generous people. They would literally give you the shirts off of her backs. They always made everyone feel at home and welcome. Vern and Colleen had the most loving, supportive, and devoted marriage. They were truly as one. They shared the passion for antiques, classic films, collector’s items, particularly Madame Alexander, and Barbie Dolls. Colleen loved all of the holidays. Christmas was her favorite, followed by Easter and Halloween close seconds. Both of them would dress up on Halloween, most times in matching costumes. Vern would dress up as an “ugly woman” always finding the funniest pieces to wear and hold. They both loved to laugh, and have fun! Colleen will be dearly missed and loved by all. Colleen is survived by her brother Grant Best (Colleen), Sister in her heart and best friend since age 7, Shirley Rakes; children Steven Lynn Harward, and Amy Elizabeth Harward Dansie Dasilva, whom they raised; grandchildren, Randy Jr, Amy, Melanie, Blaise, Heather, Mandy, Dustin, Angie, Kazie, and Kody; 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers Eldon Harward and Mardell Jensen. Proceeded in death by her parents, brother Herbert Best, daughter Teri, son Randy, brothers in law Duane, Carl, Eldon, sister in law Winona, and cousins Emma and Louis Trinko. Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic, current restrictions, and local laws, a private service will be held with a small group of close family members on Thursday April 16th, 2020 at Premier Funeral Home. Flowers delivered by florists may be sent there. However, a memorial celebration of life will be announced at a later date when the Covid-19 restrictions, laws, and dangers have ceased.
