Dale Preston Pelo Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dale Preston Pelo 1936 - 2022 Dale Preston Pelo, 86, peacefully passed away in his home on June 21, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born May 23, 1936 to his delighted parents, Bertha and Bill Pelo, in Red Lodge, Montana. Dale adored his father who died in a mining accident when he was 6-years-old and was devoted to his mother who raised him alone. Well, not completely alone. Dale’s older brothers, Marvin and Raymond, were instrumental in teaching Dale important skills such as, how to ride a horse, pee on an electric fence, swim, and which of the words learned on the playground were appropriate for the dinner table. Dale was 16-years-old when he began working the summers at the Canyon Hotel in Yellowstone. It was there, five years later, that he would meet the love of his life, Renae Duffin. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple in October of 1958. Sixty-four years of life together brought them many joys, mingled with sorrow. Their greatest joy was their family of 10 children, 60 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren. Dale graduated with a degree in accounting from the University of Montana. As he started his family with Renae, he also began his career in accounting. While living in Missoula he was called to be an early morning seminary teacher, where he quickly discovered his love for teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. What started as a church calling became his calling in life. Dale spent 24 years teaching seminary, where he was loved dearly by all his students. He was everyone’s favorite teacher. He finished his career working as an auditor for the Church Educational System. He traveled the world keeping the books and touching the lives of everyone he met. After he retired, he went with Renae on two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. One to the Grand Bahamas and the second to Lansing, Michigan as institute teachers at the University of Michigan. Next to his love for his family and the gospel was his love for BYU football. He spent many Saturday afternoons cheering for his beloved Cougars. As his health was failing, he talked about wanting to live to see the BYU vs Notre Dame game. Now he’ll get to watch it on the jumbotron in the sky with his favorite football buddy son-in-law, Lance McIntosh, who preceded him in death seven months ago. He was preceded in death by Lance McIntosh (son-in-law) and five grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved sweetheart, Renae Pelo, and children Alison Briggs (Alan), Wendy Bentley (Rob), Brad Pelo (Melody), Becky Enciso (Angel), Brenda McIntosh, Deanne Crockett (Randy), Kimberli Robison (Harold), Quinn Otrera, Jennifer Rawlings (Kenneth), Jared Pelo (Mychael-Ann), 60 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 6:30-8:00 PM with funeral services the following day, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Orchard Stake Center (810 E 600 N) in Orem, Utah. There will be no viewing prior to the funeral. Interment, will be in the Orem City Cemetery on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
