Dennis Victor Bingham
July 16, 1945 - March 7, 2020
Dennis Victor Bingham, 74, returned to heaven peacefully in his sleep on March 7, 2020. He was born in Ogden, Utah on July 16, 1945 to Glen and Gennie Bingham. He graduated in 1963 from Ogden High School, where he was a member of the Booster Club. He was also on the wrestling team, where he won a state championship in his weight class. He served an LDS mission in the Spanish American Texas mission, Spanish speaking. Upon returning home he married his high school sweetheart, Rosann Wells, in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 18, 1967. He then served in the US Army in the 2nd battalion as a Platoon Sergeant, and was trained as a paratrooper, serving his time in Vietnam. While there he earned a Bronze Star with valor, and several other medals including 3 Purple Hearts. After returning home to Ogden, he started his family with Rosann and soon they moved up to Huntsville to fulfill their dream of living in the country and having horses. Over the next several decades he participated in Pony clubs, 4-H groups and countless trail rides. He also loved waterskiing his whole life, whenever he could find a boat. His favorite was to shore start on his slalom ski and do a run while spraying everyone, then back to the shore without ever getting his hair wet. He was always seeking adventure and loved outdoor activities with his family, such as, white water rafting in Jackson Hole, camping, rock climbing, snow skiing, and he even went skydiving on his 50th birthday, rock climbed for his 60th and almost got up last summer on water skis at 74. He loved and was involved in scouts for many years, including being cubmaster several times where he would dress in a full Indian costume for the arrow of light ceremonies, making it a special night for each scout. He also earned several leadership awards including his Wood Badge. Dennis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held many callings over the years, including being a councilor in the bishopric, high counsel, young men’s presidency, and a teacher in many different capacities. He enjoyed working as an outside salesman and meeting new people by calling on contractors for Wheelwright Lumber, Diehl Lumber, Anderson Lumber, Smith and Edwards, BMC West and KD cabinets. He was always giving service at work or church and in the community. He was a hard worker and had a great work ethic that he passed on to his kids. He was always the life of the party and enjoyed people wherever he went. He loved taking many family trips as well as traveling with his group of lifelong friends. He loved working with his hands, especially with wood and carpentry. He was able to make anything Rosann could dream up for their house and yard. From plaques and decorative shelves to toy barns that were sold in local toy stores for a time. He was very handy around the house with plumbing, electrical and finish work, and helped build his own home and barn in Huntsville where he lived and raised his family for over 40 years. He was not the best singer but a great whistler, and often kept us entertained on long car rides. He loved grilling chicken for our Sunday dinners. He even created his own basting sauce. (Family secret recipe) You could always find Kool-Aid in the fridge, Chips Ahoy in the car, and tootsie rolls throughout the house. He is survived by his wife Rosann, and children: Cory (Sarah) Bingham, Danielle (Trevor) White, Tiffany Snow, Bridgette (Bryan) Fife and Nathan (Shar) Bingham. His 16 ½ grandchildren, Brittany (Doug) Weston, Eli White, Bailey Fife, Brinklee Fife, Fisher Snow, Spencer Bingham, Lyric White, Ella Bingham, Jordan Bingham, Charlie Snow, Brooks Fife, Logan Bingham, Briggs Fife, TJ Snow, Mya Bingham, Bowen Fife and 1 ½ great grandchild Adrian Weston.
