Diane Emiko Morita

December 10, 1946 - January 15, 2012

Diane Emiko Morita, 65, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 15, 2012, from cancer with family at her side. She faced this last of life’s challenges with courage and determination. Diane was born and raised in Hawaii, where she graduated from Brigham Young University Hawaii, with a Bachelor of Science degree. Soon after, she followed her religious calling and transferred to Brigham Young University Provo, where she earned her second Bachelor Degree in Computer Science. Diane served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Japan. Her career led her to the Provo Temple in 1979, where she spent 32 wonderful years as a Temple worker. The Temple became her new home and the staff became her family. She loved her work and looked forward to being there with her co-workers, who always made her feel truly special. Toward the end of her battle with cancer, Diane was still determined to go back to work. Diane was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and faithfully served the Lord in many callings throughout her life. Her most beloved service was as a Temple worker. Loved by those who knew her, Diane is described by a friend as “the sweetest and most pure of the Lord’s spirits in this kingdom” and an inspiration to all. She will be sorely missed by family and friends as she returns “Home” to be with our Lord and Savior. She is survived by her brother, Thurston (Georgine) Morita from California; sister, Carole (Raymond) Sugai from Hawaii; four nieces and nephews, 5 grand-nieces and nephew, and many other relatives. The family extends love and appreciation to Dr. Wallentine and his staff at the Central Utah Clinic and the staff of Vista Care for their loving care of Diane. Special appreciation to her many friends who visited her, sent notes of encouragement, and phoned their love – you were all a blessing to her! Diane will be interred in Hawaii, beside her parents and grandparents, who predeceased her. She wishes to have family and friends remember her as she lived and served; therefore, at her request, funeral services will not be held.
