Dolores Winneva Thompson
October 13, 1928 - May 30, 2020
Dolores Winneva Thompson 1928 ~ 2020 Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away at the place her children and grandchildren called home on May 30, 2020. Born on October 13, 1928 in Winnemucca Nevada, she was left on the doorstep of William and Ruby Woodall. Mom was a long time active member of the Presbyterian Church that she viewed not in a sense of tradition and worship but as a sanctuary where she found the people, values and solace that she loved with all her heart and soul. She had an ability to connect with people on a deep and personal level that those fortunate enough to have experienced will never forget. Her legacy is the positive impact she had and the wisdom she bestowed as she lifted people through challenging times. Mom was raised by William and Ruby Woodall in Elko, Nevada until High School when they moved to Salt Lake. Elko was home to Mom, she would reminisce about the joys of growing up in Nevada spending time at the Ranch and chasing boys. Nevada is where she got her toughness. Throughout her life she had to call on that toughness to get our family through numerous challenges and every one was conquered and replaced with optimism. 25 years ago we discovered the story around who Mom’s parents were and we were so relieved to find out that my Grandfather, Bill Woodall, who was the center of our universe and loved so much was her biological father. From that point Mom was wonderfully reunited with all of her half brothers and sisters. Survived by her children, William Parkinson (Robyn Chandler), Jeff Pace (Andrea “Sami” Johnson), Tori Peterson (Randy Peterson deceased), 4 grandchildren, Justin Pace, Alisha Pace-Seeley, Jenna Peterson Karsten, Kimberly Mitchell, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews including her sister’s son David Clontz and her beloved dog “MaddieSue”. Preceded in death by her Dad “William” and Mom “Ruby” Woodall her husband Larry Thompson and sister Bobby. The last two years of Moms life were both wonderful and challenging yet even as recent as a month before she passed we were still arguing about how many Margaritas she could have and discussing politics. A personal thanks to Vienna Francken who was the best caretaker you could ask for, Andrea “Sami” Johnson, who my mother considered her second daughter who provided so much joy and comfort to her life and Roz for adding MaddieSue to her fur family. Due to Covid-19 service arrangements and a celebration of life have not been formalized. Anyone who is interested in attending either feel free to contact me at [email protected] and I will make sure you are invited. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.premierfuneral.com
