Donna M Faigle
March 5, 1924 - March 7, 2012
Donna Faigle died peacefully, in the arms of her loving family on March 7, 2012. Born March 5, 1924 to Carl August and Frances Hansen Sandquist, she attended Granite High School. She was proud to serve as a Marine in World War II, and met her husband Albert Faigle (also a Marine) in Washington D.C. where they married in 1946. Albert preceded her in death in 2002. Donna is survived by her children Kerry Faigle and Barbara (Bruce) Hutchinson, grandchildren Jared (Malynda) Faigle and Kaitlin Travis, and great grandchildren Alisha and Damon Johnson. Also survived by brother Marvin (June) Sandquist. Donna was a hard worker, retiring from the Post Office, and was a devoted mom and grandma. Neighborhood kids were always welcome in Donna and Al’s home where they could pour out their hearts, share their fantasies and were always accepted. Mom loved adventure - - tagging turtles in Costa Rica, volunteering as a docent at Hogle Zoo, flying in hot air balloons, glider planes and helicopters, boating on Lake Powell and traveling the world. Her greatest regret was never having the chance to sky dive before old age made it impossible. The family is very grateful for the care and love given to Donna by Harmony Hospice (with special thanks and love to Maria), and to the VA Home Based Services, both of which helped fill her last years with love and care. A gathering in her memory will be held on Saturday, March 24, from 3-6 PM at 447 South 1200 East, Salt Lake City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donna’s name to Caribbean Conservation Corp. at www.cccturtle.org, or Hogle Zoo, or a charity of your choice.
