Donna Cannon Livingston

March 27, 1931 - July 16, 2014

“Grand reunion in store” Donna Cannon Livingston completed her life on this earth July 16, 2014. She was born March 27, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Marcella Murphy and Milton Bennion Cannon, and nurtured in a family of two brothers, one sister. Donna grew up in the Millcreek area, raising chickens, swimming in a neighborhood waterhole and baby-sitting to earn money during the depression. Attending school at Granite High was a warm memory where she dated and married her “high school sweetheart”, the football quarterback, Dick Livingston, in the Salt Lake Temple. Dick and Donna founded a home based on love, service to others and the gospel of Jesus Christ and into that home welcomed five children and their spouses: JoLynn Johnson (Kim), Mark (Cheri) Livingston, Dale (Linda) Livingston, Kay Ericson (Steve) and Ann Livingston Elnicky, 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way). Donna served faithfully as a member of the LDS Church as Relief Society President, Young Women leader, many teaching assignments and at the time of her stroke as Nursery teacher. Donna leaves behind a lifetime of love and service. Her stroke left her with many physical challenges, but her mind and memory were keen, helping us to identify her innumerable photographs, and record the stories attached to them. Donna was known as a woman of incredible devotion to the Lord and to the many roles she played as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family more than anything and gave her all to them throughout her life. She received great joy from watching the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and was a cheerleader for them, attending swim meets, tennis matches, graduations, dance recitals, ball games of all kinds, and provided a haven for fun in her backyard. Donna cultivated relationships with her grandchildren by tending them often and treating them to their own “Town Day” which stemmed from her undying love of shopping. Her tireless energy was cut short by a stroke in 2010. Despite all of her challenges, she remained gracious, dignified, and appreciative to all she encountered. The family would like to thank Donna’s loving caregivers since Dick’s passing: Dale and Linda Livingston, Michael and Natalie Ericson, and the exceptional staff at the Wentworth at Willow Creek. Donna is survived by her children, her younger brother and his wife, Calvin and Karen Cannon, brother-in-law John Garrison. She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband Dick, brother and sister-in-law, Milton M and Marian Cannon, sister, Marcella Jeanne Cannon Garrison, great-grandson, James E. Johnson. Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon., Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Holliday 18th Ward, 2625 East Milo Way, Holladay, Utah with a viewing at the church Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday prior to services from 10:45 to 11:45 am. Interment will be at the Holladay Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
