Doris Irene Taggart

April 8, 1929 - May 28, 2019

Doris Irene Taggart, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at the age of 90. Doris and her twin sister, Delores Imogene Taggart, her only sibling, were born in Winslow, Arizona on April 8, 1929, to Henry Leroy Coplan and Dorothy Lorraine Burleson. On October 5, 1946, she was married in Yuma, Arizona to her loving husband of 62 years, Raymond Lee (Pete) Taggart, who passed away in 2008. They are survived by three daughters, Delores (Terry) Gunn, Gloria (Val) Johnson, and Viola (Steven) Walker, 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin sister, and a baby great-granddaughter. Doris loved children, and teaching at the elementary school. She had never finished her education while young, so she decided to go to night school to finish her high school diploma. Then it was on to college for a bachelor’s degree and a teaching credential. Doris liked to cook, and everyone loved her unforgettable dinners, but no one loved to clean up afterwards. She also enjoyed sewing, and her daughters loved the clothes she made for them. She met Pete after he returned from serving valiantly in the Pacific during World War II. When she saw Pete she told her twin sister, "I'm going to marry that guy."…and she did. It wasn't long before her twin married one of Pete’s brothers. Doris lived most of her life in Southern California, but the last 13 years were in Utah near her daughters. Doris was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served others faithfully, and took every chance to bear her testimony of the gospel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at the Woodland Hills chapel, 220 Woodland Hills Drive, Woodland Hills, Utah (near a roundabout). Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Lehi City Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. Sean Curzon, and the many caregivers, including BeeHive Homes of Payson (Daycare Services), Aspen Homecare, Central Utah Veterans Home in Payson, Active Hospice, and Premiere Funeral Services.
