Douglas S. Gardner

January 8, 1951 - August 14, 2018

Douglass Sparks Gardner, a kind son, brother, father and grandfather, passed away at the PeachTree Place assisted living community at the age of 67 on August 14th of 2018. He is survived by son Paul Robert (Emma) Gardner, daughter Andrea Elin (Joshua) Goff and son Trym Rambø Nerby, grandchildren Neo Gardner, Belle Gardner, Minea Lumerto and Ruben Lumerto, mother Estelle Gardner and siblings Dean (Catherine) Gardner, Kathy (Mike) Kallas, Kevin (Myrt) Gardner, David Gardner and Ray (Cindy) Gardner. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Turid Elin Vassbund Gardner and father Richard Manwaring Gardner. Douglass was born January 8th in Delta, Utah, the first of six children. He graduated from Delta High school, and shortly after served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Oslo, Norway mission. After his mission he attended the University of Utah, where he would re-meet Turid Elin Vassbund, a young Norwegian girl. They would later be married and sealed in the Manti Temple. Douglass was a hardworking man who always provided and cared for his family. In addition to the two children that he and Turid would adopt, he also fostered three children, and many others would find a place in their home throughout the years. Though a quiet man, he was humorous, kind and loving. He will especially be remembered fondly by those he served as bishop for the Sandvika ward in Norway. A viewing will be held at Premier Funeral services (5335 South 1950 West ., Roy, Utah, 84067) Friday, August 17th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Burial will be at Østenstad Kirkegård, Asker, Norway. Date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to your local LDS missionary fund, or the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).”
