August 2, 1941 - December 17, 2020
Elizabeth Divers Farrell, 79, passed away peacefully in the wee hours of Thursday morning December 17 2020 following a courageous battle with abdominal cancer. Liz was born August 2, 1941 in Glasgow, Scotland to John Divers and Elizabeth Walker Crawford Divers. Liz attended Wellpark Elementary School in Glasgow and while there she was awarded several prizes and accolades for her perfect hand writing and her ability to write the most amazing and creative stories. Liz then continued her education at Whitehall Senior Secondary School where she excelled in English. Liz received several higher honors before graduating at the age of sixteen. Liz entered the work force in Glasgow in the late spring of 1957 and was employed as a sales assistance at a high end department store named Wylie and Lochhead. Liz continued her work experiences in Glasgow with her last position as a copy typist for the Glasgow Corporation Gas Board. When Liz was 21 she emigrated to the United States settling on Long Island, New York where she lived and worked before deciding to move to Salt Lake City where she worked for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Genealogical Society as a transcriber. Liz returned to Scotland for a short time and worked again as a copy typist at the military barracks at Dundonald Army Camp which turned out to be the most favorite place where she was ever employed. Liz had the good fortune to meet the love of her life William Farrell at a friends wedding reception and before long William and Liz moved to Utah and were married. Liz never met a stranger, she was a true friend to everyone she met. She was filled with compassion and love for all people no natter their station in life. She was engaging with people and could make any dull day brighter if you happened along and into her presence. Liz was a lover of animals, she was a collector of wonderful recipes and accumulated hundreds of them always meaning to cook or bake each one. She loved the vegetable gardens that her husband Bill would plant each year and his rose bushes. She was a lover of photography and would take pictures of wild life and flowers every chance she got. Liz and Bill were most fortunate to have two beautiful daughters. Alexandra and Tiffany who brought them the greatest joy of their life. They camped together and enjoyed picnics and Sunday drives. Her devotion to her girls was unparalleled, she was a stay at home mother and never missed an event, she walked them to the Orem library and also spent countless hours with them at the BYU library. Everyday she showed her girls so much love and joy and she will be dearly missed and they are grateful for the reunion she is having with their father at this time. Liz is preceded in death by her husband Bill and her parents. She leaves behind her daughters Alexandra and Tiffany (Shaun) two grandsons Bryson and Ryder, sister Grace Robertson and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a large family of cousins in Scotland. A viewing for family will be held from 9:30-10-30 Monday December 21, at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1050 East 200 North, Orem. Gravesides services will be held at the Orem City Cemetery at 11:00 am (friends may attend) Arrangements made by Premier Funeral Services.
