Ferne Ethel Stevens

Ferne Ethel Stevens, 95, Riverton WY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 9th, 2017 in Ogden Utah. She was born in Atkinson NE to Frances Grubb and Hattie Erb on July 21, 1922. She married Leon Hollenbeck and they had three children. She divorced and later married Melvin Stevens who was the love of her life. They lived in Alaska for over 50 years where she worked as a postmaster. She was very involved in the Rebecca Lodge and served as Grand Nobel. She enjoyed the outdoors and being adventurous. She loved to ski, travel, and ride motorcycles. She was an avid reader. Ferne was also an accomplished artist and very talented at needle point, cross stitch, sewing, pottery, and gardening. She had a keen mind which she kept active by doing crossword puzzles, word search, and watching British murder mystery movies and documentaries. She earned the nick name of “Go-go-granny” because she loved to drive fast in her younger years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Stevens and all three children, Carma Cole, James Hollenbeck and Terry Hollenbeck; four grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. She is survived by her Brother Robert (Bob) Grubb (Dubois); her grandchildren, Lanny Cole Jr. (Lander), Michelle Cole Muir (North Salt Lake), Sandra Cole Pippin (Ogden), James Cole (Wasilla AK), Chuck Hollenbeck (Portland), Holly Hollenbeck (St. Louis), George Hollenbeck (Tucson), Eve Hollenbeck Fellner (Boise), James V. Hollenbeck (Indianapolis), Paul Hollenbeck (Tooele UT), Janice Hollenbeck (Texas), and April Hollenbeck (Texas); 27 great grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren. Grandma we all miss you and love you to the moon and back. God be with you till we meet again. Services will be held on Thursday November 16th at the LDS Church, 653 Cascade, Lander Wyoming at 10:00 am. Interment will be in Dubois WY. Viewing will be held prior to the services at 9:15 am. A special thanks to all of her cardiac rehab family. She loved you all.
