Gary Alden Jackman

January 4, 1955 - December 11, 2020

Gary Alden Jackman 1/4/55 – 12/11/20 After fighting and winning his battle with leukemia for the past two years, Gary was suddenly taken from us as a result of complications from contracting COVID-19. Gary was born on January 4, 1955 to Betty Lou and Alden Leroy Jackman. He grew up and attended schools in the Cottonwood area of Salt Lake. He graduated from Cottonwood High and went on to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Oregon and Washington state areas. Gary retired from working as a custodian for the Church in 2019. The most important part of Gary’s life was his family. He cherished being visited and being able to talk with his relatives. He was blessed to be able to share a home and enjoy the company of his son, Marshall. Gary enjoyed watching and following sports, especially football and basketball. His favorite teams were BYU, Utah and the Utah Jazz. He loved celebrating any holiday, but his favorite was Christmas. He started watching Christmas movies in November, and was looking forward to decorating his home, wrapping presents and spending time with his family this year. Gary is survived by his beloved son and companion, Marshall. His siblings: Dennis (MaryAnn), Ken (Kathy), Jeanne (Chuck, deceased), Bryan (Dina) and Marilyn (DaRell) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Gary Paul and his sister Bonnie. The family would like to extend our appreciation to the staff of Huntsman Cancer Hospital, especially the Bone Marrow Transplant unit for all of their care and treatment. Gary spent a lot of time there the past two years and considered everyone there his friend. Due to the ongoing pandemic, there will be a private family burial. A Celebration of Gary’s life will be planned for a later date when it is safe for us to be together.
