Gary Lynn Muir

June 19, 1961 - September 25, 2021

Gary Lynn Muir, 60, passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2021 from complications of COVID-19. Lynn was born on June 19, 1961 in Salt Lake City. He was the oldest son of Gary Rees Muir and Kay Willmore Muir. Throughout his youth he excelled in many sports including baseball, football, basketball, and golf. He married his wife, Lynette, on August 1, 1985 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Brittany and Kylie. Lynn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a passion for teaching the gospel to others. He had a way of impacting those around him while teaching and sharing his strong testimony of the Savior. Lynn served an honorable full-time mission in the Italy Podova mission. He loved the Lord, his family, and especially his wife. Lynn attended college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and followed in his father’s footsteps receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering along with a minor in mathematics. He had a very successful career in the Aerospace and Mining industries with a passion towards continuous technical improvement and driving operational excellence. Lynn enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved spending time outside golfing with his family and friends. He enjoyed fly fishing and looked forward to his annual “boys’ trip” with his father, brothers, and nephews. Lynn loved traveling with his family, and he never missed an opportunity to travel somewhere warm and sunny. Nothing brought Lynn more joy than spending time with his family and being “Papa” to his three cherished grandchildren. He was a hardworking, kind-hearted, and loving man. He always greeted everyone with a big smile, fierce loyalty, and nobody was safe from his loving teasing. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. Lynn is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Lynette; two children, Brittany (Allen) Bauer of West Jordan, Kylie (Chris) Luke of Lehi; three beautiful grandchildren Mackenzie, Liam, and Andelyn; mother Kay Muir, siblings Kim (Jim) Guymon, Julie (Mark) Singleton, Ken (Kim) Muir, Dan Muir, and Melissa Muir. Lynn is preceded in death by his father, Gary. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 8, 2021 at 12:30 pm at the Bountiful Mueller Park Stake Center located on 1800 E. Mueller Park Rd, Bountiful, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will be at the Memorial Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful following the funeral.
