Genieve Taylor

April 17, 1946 - March 16, 2017

Genieve Taylor 1946 – 2017 Beloved, adorable Genieve Taylor, 70 of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully March 16, 2017. She was born April 17, 1946 to Georgena (Anderson) and Richard James Taylor in Stockton, Ca. She was raised by step-mother Ruth Elizabeth Johnson Taylor (Mom) after Georgena’s death. Growing up in Henderson, Nevada, she was bright, intellectually curious, personable, and deeply spiritual. Genieve graduated from Basic High School, attended Nevada Girl’s State and won a National Science Foundation scholarship, choosing to study frogs in Alaska. She loved words, language and music, took Spanish and Latin and sang in the chorus. Genieve won the only speech contest she entered. She got permission to attend early morning LDS seminary a year early. In 1965 while attending BYU as zoology major, Genieve was severely injured in an automobile accident, comatose 6 months due to traumatic brain injury. Although quadriparetic the majority of the 51 years following her injury, she was happy, resilient and uncomplaining. She loved everyone, never felt sorry for herself, was funny and unfailingly good humored, a supreme example that one can be happy no matter what. Genieve loved God, America, animals and BYU. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Many thanks to the numerous women who helped with Genieve’s care over the years as well as the amazing support of dear friends and family. Genieve was preceded in death by her father, Richard, mother, Georgena and mom, Ruth. She is survived by her sister, Mary, who was blessed to care for her the last 35 years. My darling sister, Genieve, you are the best! Fine as sunshine on a daisy. A viewing will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the LDS church located at 130 N. 400 W., Orem, UT. Interment will be in the St. George City cemetery.
