George Bert Barton was born on September 12, 1911 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Willard W. Barton and Ethelinda Christensen. He died November 24, 2014. His family moved to Salt Lake City when he was 18. He is known by George to some people and Bert to others. At age 12 his brother was born on George Washington's birthday and his parents named the baby George Washington Barton; they then called the baby George and referred to dad as Bert. He was oldest of 10 siblings: Dorothy Hillhouse, Lois Diamond, Willard Earl Barton, Lucile Black, George Washington Barton, Afton Barton, infant Barton, Francis Merle Mellon, David Clair Barton, and Phyllis Joan Zerull. He married Mary Phyllis Kelley and they had seven children: Gordon Kelley Barton, Robert Earl Barton, Janette Barton, William Bert Barton, Darlene Barton Wolf, Brent Kay Barton, and Bryan Ray Barton. After Phyllis passed, he married Naomi Thomas and after her death married Adina Hart Wixom. He is preceded in death by his parents, 8 siblings, 2 children (Robert and Janette), and 3 wives. George and Phyllis served a mission in Perth, Australia. He held many callings in his church and loved his family. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday December 2, 2014 at the Rosecrest 2nd Ward, 2300 E. 3101 S., Salt Lake City, UT with a viewing one hour prior to the services.
