George Nick Pappas (Pappadakis) 1941-2018 George Nick Pappas (Pappadakis) passed away on January 5, 2018, in Sandy Utah, with his loving wife at his side. Born August 25, 1941 to Nick and Cleo Pappadakis. He lived happily on the farm in Gusher, Utah for his first 16 years and moved to SLC with his family on Valentine’s Day 1957. George married Cathie McStotts on October 28, 1962 and they recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. He attended Fort Duchesne and Altera elementary, Union High School and graduated from South High School in 1959. Graduated from the Army Administration School in 1960 and was honorably discharged from the United States Army on Aug. 31st 1967. Attended Stephen Henager Business School for Accounting and Business Management. In his early years, he worked as a Shift Supervisor at Salt Lake County Detention Center. Spent 10 years at the State of Utah Department of Public Safety as a Driver License Examiner and Driver Improvement Hearing Officer. He trained and worked as an EMT and security guard during the construction of the Upper Stillwater Tunnel. He worked as a Security Officer at Palm Springs Unified School District in Palm Springs, CA. Dad enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and going to the cabin and farm with his family and simply being in the forest. He was an amazing father and the world’s very best Papau. Survived by his wife Cathie, daughter Pauline Pappas Fox, son Nick George Pappas, beloved grandchildren Chris (Jen) Cardwell, Danielle (Brad) Adams, Chelsea (Vinnie) Gillingham, Celina Pappas, Gregory Wilson, George Pappas, Nikole Wilson, and great grandsons Dean and Godric Gillingham. Also survived by brothers Mike and John. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Elaine and daughter in law Lyn. Services will be held @ 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday January 9, 2018 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a viewing one hour prior. May his memory be eternal.
