July 8, 1964 - October 10, 2011
Graylen R Tyler Sr. Our loving father suddenly left us October 10, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Graylen Sr. born July 8, 1964 to Thomas Tyler Jr. and Bernice Simpkins in Dallas, Texas. Graylen Tyler Sr. graduated in 1982 from East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, his father Thomas Tyler Sr. was so proud! Dad you’re the best cook, your food was better than amazing! Anyone who ever had your food would not say different. Coaching track and field was one of your favorite things to do. So many athletes became much better because of your knowledge. I know you were one of the fastest individuals ever to come from Utah. Even at your older age you would come out and compete at a very high level. Everything I know about sports I owe to you. I loved watching the Broncos on Sunday even if the Broncos were having a bad year. We always thought they were going to have a good year, but that was not always the case. You would never miss any of my sporting events. I could always here your voice over the crowd. My father Graylen loved doing ancestry work on the computer. He came a long way in the past three years with the computer. I remember the very first time he tried to type, he was so confused on how to use the computer. Almost as confused as I am on what I will be doing without you. Me and you dad were inseparable. Know one knows how this hurts me. I have never been away from you more that a week. I pray that you are close to me now and watching over me in these tragic times. Now that you are gone my heart has a feeling of emptiness. No words can comfort the hard pain I feel. Hopefully I’ll try to figure what to do next, man dad; we still had so many goals to complete. I know meeting your brother Elmer for the first time in Oklahoma meant so much to you. That was one of your goals in life to see your long lost brother. I know you and your brother had a great bond together. I know the last couple of months in Utah had made you so happy because you spent more time seeing your daughter Genecia, and other family members and friends. We had had a rough time in Colorado and your main goal was to get me back home to Utah. Dad you are the best father one could ever have and we thank you for all you did. You were always kind and loving. Your beautiful smile will be missed. You are not only a great dad; you have been my coach and my best friend. Words could never explain how much I Love and cared for you. Now you will be with all the family who has past before us. I wait till the day we will be together again. Dad you will always be remembered by your family and friends. He is survived by his two children, Graylen Jr, Genecia Tyler, two sisters, Tanesha Tyler, Sarah Tyler, and brother Elmer Milton. Many loved ones residing from Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Funeral Services will be at Trinity A.M.E Church, Monday, October 17, 2011 at 11:00 am. A viewing will be one hour prior to the services at the same location. Interment, Larkin Cemetery 1700 East 10600 South, Sandy. Any contributions toward the funeral expenses will be greatly appreciated.
