Jack Kenneth Cook
July 17, 1946 - February 25, 2015
Jack Kenneth Cook was born to Jack Kelman Cook and Olive Edna May Gibbons on 17 July 1946 in Logan, Utah. He attended Weber High School, graduating in 1964. He also earned his BS in Zoology and Computer Science at Weber State College. He joined the U.S. Army in 1966. He then served two tours of duty in Vietnam, gaining a purple heart. Jack earned Bronze and Silver Stars for Valor, and was discharged in 1971. He worked at Hill AFB and then as a genealogist for private companies in the Family History Library until his death. Genealogy was a great passion for Jack. He is missed for his knowledge of Western European records and research and his devotion to indexing genealogical records to make them more accessible. Mostly he is greatly loved and missed by his wife, Kathy Kirkpatrick, and their children: John, James, Kathleen, Tom, and Chris. He's also missed and survived by his brother Ralph, his sister Judy, and their children, and as an actively involved member of the LDS Cannon 9th Ward. Jack passed away on 25 February 2015 at the VA in Salt Lake City. We're grateful for the level of care and the warmth of caring he received there. A Remembrance Service will be held at the LDS Chapel at 1400 South and Concord St in Salt Lake City on Friday, 6 March 2015 at 11 am.
