January 1, 1936 - February 3, 2022
Mary Jacqueline “Jackie” Kaiser Nelson 1936 - 2022 Mary Jacqueline “Jackie” Kaiser Nelson, passed away on February 3, 2022. She was born on January 1, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to John Leo Kaiser and Lillian Marie Kunkel. Jackie spent the last years of her life in Layton, Utah, but would always consider Montana her true home. Jackie loved nature, and was an avid outdoor enthusiast. She loved her home in Alaska, where she lived with her husband, Arnold “Red” Nelson for 20 years. They built their home on a bay, and frequently enjoyed fishing, whale watching, and bear spotting. Jackie worked hard all her life, and was well known for her intellect (High School Valedictorian and crossword enthusiast) and willingness to help others. She would always go out of her way to lend a hand to those around her. Some of Jackie’s many hobbies included: rug weaving, pine needle basket weaving, gardening, and card games. She often enjoyed a good game of Pinochle with friends or family. Jackie had a “loom house” devoted to her loom, where she spent many hours making beautiful rugs to sell and give to family. Jackie was a wonderful example of hard work and frugality, and always loved to find a good deal. Her and Red were very conscientious about preserving the beautiful places they lived in, including Kalispell, Montana, and Craig, Alaska. Their love of nature ran deep, and they would frequently spend their freetime picking up litter. Jackie enjoyed the simple things in life, and could make the most out of anything. She is dearly missed by all who knew her. Jackie is survived by her husband, Arnold, two daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Hall (Ron), and Jennifer Tidwell (Lyn). Additionally, 6 grandkids: Ryan Hall (Melissa), Heather Buddensick (John), Jessica Carlson (Cody), Rusty Tidwell (Shannon), Lonnie Tidwell (Cheryl), and Lyndsay Hadlock (Spencer), along with 10 great-grandkids. The family would like to thank Inspiration Hospice Care and the staff at Fairfield Village of Layton for the great care and support they provided to Jackie. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.premierfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of your choice. Information for a Celebration of Jackie’s Life will be forthcoming.
