James Robert Hazelwood

James Robert Hazelwood passed away on December 6, 2018 at the age of 87. James was originally from Toano, Virginia. James was the sole survivor when his plane was shot down in the Korean War. James then became a technician at Richmond International Airport where he worked until retirement. Throughout his life, James was a farmer. James had twelve children: Bonnie Hazelwood, Thomas Burt Hazelwood, Robert Dean Hazelwood (deceased firefighter), James Robert Hazelwood Jr., Pattie S. Christensen, Donald Scott Hazelwood, Amy Elizabeth Hazelwood, Michael David Hazelwood, LeeAnn Johnson (deceased police officer), Kim Hazelwood Cettei, Christopher Hazelwood and Kate Anast. James also has one surviving brother: Donald Alvin Hazelwood of Toano, Virginia. The family would like to express their absolute love for James' caregivers: Jeff with Envision Hospice, Paita (aka Hawaii), all of the wonderful people at Mount Olympus in Salt Lake City and the kind folks at Premier Funeral. A memorial service will be held on January 12, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Vincent Funeral Home located at 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Virginia 23140. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people either plant something or donate to their favorite veterans charity.
