James Edward Nixon

March 5, 1933 - March 9, 2021

Our beloved father and grandfather, James Edward Nixon, of Gunnison, Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 9, 2021, at the age of 88. James was born in Provo, Utah, on March 5, 1933 to Harold and Katurah Nixon. He is husband to the late Anna Lillian Ridgley, and the late Mary Staley Nixon. James retired from Geneva Pipe after 35 years, and then worked for Community Action for another 12 years. He was known for being a hard worker having two and three jobs at a time for most of his life. During those years, he started several small businesses out of his hobbies. James also enjoyed rock hunting which later turned into a love for lapidary. He enjoyed giving service to those in need and enjoyed working on genealogy. He enjoyed camping, hunting, riding horses, and spending time in Thistle. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as a missionary several times. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, being a hard worker, and as a loving Father. James is survived by his children James, Daniel, Michael, Yvonne, Paul, Deborah, Sabrina, Jared, Jerusha, and Thomas, by his brother Richard, and by his 62 grandchildren and 115 great grandchildren, and 23 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents: Harold & Katura, sisters: Grace and Mary, wife Mary Staley Nixon, and wife Anna Nixon with whom he shared 47 wonderful years. A viewing will be held at the Benjamin, Utah, 2nd Ward chapel, 3238 West 7300 South, Benjamin, Utah from 10-12 on Monday, March 15, 2021. A graveside service will be held for family on Monday, March 15, 2021 at the Benjamin Cemetery, at 12:30 PM.
