Jean Gustaveson

May 27, 1933 - August 6, 2017

Jean Gustaveson 1933-2017 Born May 27, 1933, Boulder City, Nevada to Silven Vergil Peterson and Audrey Cordelia Davis, Jean lived a long and productive life. She deeply loved friends and family. Jean passed away at home in her sleep Sunday, August 6, 2017. She was 84 years old. She is survived by Sherrie (Tom) Day and Marla (Dan) Floyd. Her children Karen Lee, Scott Gustaveson, and Clark Gustaveson preceded her in death. She was sealed to Lee Gustaveson in the Manti Temple, March 23, 1951. They divorced in 1982. Jean was born and grew up in Fairview, Utah. After marriage, she moved to several places in Utah and Virginia. As her health declined in her twilight years, she found respite from the demands of life with her daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Dan, in their West Jordan home. Her life was filled with helping family and developing lasting relationships. She often would drop whatever she was doing to help family or friends in need. She was a blessing to everyone around her. She was quick to smile and always ready for a good game. Dominos, Contract Rummy, and Skip Bo became her favorites. Her talents and interests included plays, horseback riding, camping, quilting, sewing, music, reading, doll making, crocheting, and family history. Many family members still enjoy the afghans and other items she crocheted for them. She was always generous and willing to share her time, talents, and everything she had. She grew up loving pets. Some of her most cherished memories growing up were of them: two dogs and two ponies. During her sojourn in this life she enjoyed her service in the LDS church in a variety of callings and in the Boy Scouts of America. She served as a teacher in Sunday School, Primary, and MIA (Mutual). She also taught genealogy and was a ward missionary. She especially liked Visiting Teaching and loved those whom she visited. Jean was a hard worker. She worked as a microfiche clerk, a tool clerk, and a security guard to make ends meet. Jean will be missed. Viewing will be held August 8 from 6-8pm and August 9 from 9:45-10:30am. Funeral services will begin at 11am. All services will be held in the LDS Chapel at 8173 South 3200 West, West Jordan. Interment will be August 9, at 4pm, in Fairview, upper city cemetery.
